AlpineSubs111 Posted January 27, 2012 Report Share Posted January 27, 2012 hi i recently bought a rockford fosgate p3 an i got a question about it.. so it has a 2.5" voice coil, do i make a 2.5" port? or how does that work? will the port size affect the performance? my buddy has a box for me its 23wx17dx15h it has a 1"w slot port.. is that box ok? 412 CVX Posted January 27, 2012 Report Share Posted January 27, 2012 no, the size of the voice coil and the size of the port are completely unrelated. every subwoofer is different, so it's always best to build an enclosure around the sub that's going in it. there is no one box that will work good for every sub that goes in it. that's one reason you don't see competitors using prefab boxes. they all build their own. shoot me a PM, and i'd be glad to help you out with this a little more.
