Cardboardcat15
Like the title says, are these welds any good? I don't know anything about welding so I can't judge them. I went through my normal mechanic who does work on all of my families cars, and seeing as how we've never had a single problem with his work, I trusted him with the welding. I just want to know if these are up to par so I can figure out whether or not I should have him do more welding with this bracket, or on my car in general. The reason I'm asking is because one of the arms of the actual bracket split in another spot (where he didn't work on), and I want to know if I'm safe to have him weld that part back on. Not bashing his work at all, he's an amazing mechanic, I'm just trying to be a "smart shopper" so to speak. There are pictures of the broken arm in my build log in my sig. All help is appreciated. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6aOdGySE-CE&feature=youtu.be and some pictures Thanks guys. My Channel on YouTube. CleanSierra
Looks like a cold joint....I don't think I'd have him weld anything else. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
audiofanaticz
I myself think they are very sloppy and booger like welds. I can do better welds with my cheap harbor freight welder that jams every 3 seconds, and im not a welder.

audiofanaticz
Looks like if you would of shaved the spacer down that goes between the alt and the alt bracket, you could have fit the alt without having to cut the alt bracket and move it back. LMAO Well it wasn't an actual issue of width, it was clearance. The casing was too large to fit under the bracket in it's stock position. Even after shaving off some of the under side of the bracket, we still couldn't get it to fit. That's when we figured the only way it was getting on was by moving the bracket itself. I think I'm just gonna have him weld up that small part for now so the car is drivable, then once I save up the money head to DC power to get a whole new bracket done. =/ My Channel on YouTube.
