dual batteries one with low volts.

Recommended Posts

So I just put in my 2nd yellow top in my trunk and the volts are staying at 11.3 and when bumping drops to 9.5. I haven't done the big 3 yet but will within a week. Will that help? Or is the only thing I can do is get a h.o. alt.? I have the back bat running 0 gauge to my cap then 4 out of cap to amp.

Get rid of that cap for one..doing nothing but added stress to your charging system, and isn't helping with your voltage issue. What kind of car is this in? What is the factory alternator's amp rating? My guess is that your alternator can't keep up with the added battery and you're depleting the reserve on the batteries and then your voltage is dropping off a cliff. Might be time to invest in a H/O alternator. I did, and haven't been happier.

First System

2002 Impala LS 3.8L V6, 128,365k miles.

Alternator: DC Power 190Amp H/O Alternator

Headunit: Kenwood KDC-BT945U.

Speakers: MBQuart 6.5" Comps, 6x9 3-way.

Amplifer: Eclipse 3322 on front 6.5 components, and a Infinity Kappa One @ 2ohm- 800w

Subwoofers: 2 REAudio SRX12D2 wired to 2 ohm.

Box: 3.1cuft box tuned to 33hz. sealed off to cabin

Big 3- done with all Knukonceptz KCA 0 gauge.

Don't drop below 14.1v at full tilt. :)
