the XS would probably be ok under the hood but it does have a fan on it. water could get in through that. I will have mine by the rear batts.

That's a no go for me then because I periodically spray the engine bay down to clean it. I'm thinking I'll just mount it in the back near the batteries and connect it to a weatherproof recessed male receptacle.

I plan on bumping this thread for max exposure over the next few days.

Remember, the moral of the story is not how fancy your charger is but rather the fact that you're alternator is not perfect and keeping your batteries topped off with a charger will improve the health of your whole charging system big or small.

i would think you would notice your hood part way open and charger sitting under there...

It would be cool to see a permanent mount solution for the XS charger like the CTEK's use but a longer cord for better reach:

Might be a stupid question but...

I have two batteries under my hood connected to each other and in a 07 yukon my alternator really annoys me in that it fluctuates a lot in charging voltage and my batteries are never even close to full with a small system.

Question is.. I can hook up the charger directly to 1 battery and not worry about disconnecting it from the alternator first right? Alternator and batts can still be hooked up together while charging?

Yes. My charger is always hooked to the batteries whether the car is on or off charging or not.

Cool can you show a little how to do that since itll cost me around 250 to buy an mla module that supposedly forces my alternator to charge at a steady 14.4 instead of 12's and 13's.

Its a 2007 yukon with plenty space under the hood.
