SnowDrifter
Not necessarily They are flooded right? Top of the fluid and either make or buy a battery desulfator. Long story short, it breaks down the crystal growth inside the battery that makes it read low, and even if charged, seem dead Definitely worth a go You just confused me lol. Can you explain it a little better what you meant please? Sorry. Inside the batteries, there is a chemical reaction that takes place when it is discharged and one of the products is a crystal called lead sulfate. This is a normal part of using a battery, and normally when charged: these crystals 're-dissolve,' to put it simply/without going into the chemistry of it lol But if it sits in a discharged state for a long time - these crystals harden and become resistant to a normal charge. No reverse reacion means that the battery won't charge. What a battery desulfator does, again to put it simply, is force these crystals to dissolve again, allowing the battery to be charged. Depending on how tech savvy you are, you can either build your own for a couple bucks or go out and buy one Quote ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
Babyjuice
Would that basically put it to partial new state and hold a normal charge? How would you build one of these contraptions? Quote BABYJUICE
SnowDrifter
You can google "battery desulfator schematics" and pick one Or get a pre built one like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Everstart-Enersys-Exide-Battery-Desulfator-Desulphator-6-or-12-Volt-/230763867161?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35ba992c19 Whichever you choose, you will also have to look into a tricke charger (no more than 2 amps) these units draw a bit of power to work. And, well... you need to charge the battery Just be aware that this is not an overnight process. It will take a good 2-4 weeks of leaving it hooked up 24/7 Quote ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
SnowDrifter
I should add that this may or may not work depending the cause of failure Pop off the covers and look at the plates. If they are brown and/or flaking, get new batteries. If they have a white buildup on them - that is the lead sulfate crystal and you should be good to go.
