first off great score for both subs and i am impressed by sundowns performance. no doubt they have a quality product.

but i would also like to point out that the 9500 used was an F series motor with who knows which soft parts and coils. there is now the i motor. so that sub is 3 gens old ( f, g, h, i) so you are comparing a brand new woofer to a woofer that has been out for years.

and as far as box rise goes obviously that box worked out better for the sundown sub because its rise was less and was able to get more power on the burp.

not trying to hate cause i was VERY IMPRESSED with the sundowns score, but just so we don't get a bunch of Sundown nuthuggers or noobs going around the forum saying sundown is soo much better then DD now because of 1 test with what i would consider unfair circumstances due to year of DD sub.

but nice job pulse on the build and love all the stuff you guys do.

and congrats to sundown on another beastly sub!

Ok. First off anyone that has ever been a serious DD competitor will tell you the DD 95f series motor is the loudest DD has ever made. Ask Terry Brocks. That being said. It is a DD 0515f with a Kevlar cone. DD soft parts. And as far as the sundown getting more power we are talking a difference of only 500 watts. Any competitor will tell you above a 150dB and in the power range we are talking here...there is not going to be a 1.5dB gain. Both are badass subs. This box was designed for the car. Not the sub. A spec box for either sub would probably barely clear a 150. Not one DD fan complained when the DD was loudest when put against the sundown and dc audio for the 8" challenge in my wife's truck. Same thing. Box built for car. Stop the hate.

Sorry if I seemed upset. I'm not upset but I have had about 40 texts, emails, pm's, and messages claiming all kinds of crap in DD's defense. bottom line is the best score we got in all of 2011 with a 9515 with a NEW beefed recone on a f motor was a 157.5dB. So you are talking best score a .1dB difference. The problem at this point is that I can't use that score to base today's performance against. The weather was different seasons, diff time of day, temperature, barometric pressure and a newly shredded hatch hinge thanks to the two DD9525 we had in there last week doing a 159.4 on music. See. DD love. That's a badass score on music with two 15" no wall on music. Can't we all just get along??? Lol

Loudest on the meter or loudest to the ear? Major difference there.

About the SD vs DD

from my experience, SD can do well in spl enclosures, but DD just smashes the lows with way more authority. just my .02
