Chaosgrunt
I was wondering how to calculate the amperage draw of an amplifier. Wanting to get a AQ3500.1 but i need to make sure i can power it 24/7. Link to the amp: http://www.audioque.com/AQ3500D1-Amplifier_p_32.html I dont just want to know how much amps it will take just to power this one, i want to know in general, how to approximately calculate the amp draw for an amplifier. ChevyBoy95
wattage / voltage, but it is still just a ball park number because of unknown efficiency. Chaosgrunt
It says Efficiency 85% at 4 ohm <
ChevyBoy95
first you would probably want the 1 ohm efficiency, second it is never really consistent. that is the efficiency they obtained through a test. just dont worry about it. get a HO alt, a nice starter battery, and 2 big batteries in the back and presto, you are done. Chaosgrunt
Why does everyone say that! Lol. If I told you I have, I would be lying. Why not "go big or go home"? I cant stick with lousy 2k systems forever. Its time to step it up a notch. Ok well i guess in this case it would be skipping a bunch of notches. Im tired of spending money on systems that i don't like. I want one that i will be happy with and stick to it.
Torres
Why not "go big or go home"? because if you go too big and miss a small step, you could end up with a big disaster. just quadruple check that you have ALL corners covered

I mean i have been planning this build for about 3 weeks straight now. Research after research after research. Honestly there is only 1 thing that will be an obstacle in this build and thats being able to power it all. Iraggi is willing to build me a dual alternator bracket for my car since no other place has them but even then, i will only be able to constantly power 2 of the 4 amps. Guess thats where lots of batteries come into place but eh, i wanna be able to power it at all times. Then again with as much as i am going to overpower the subs, i wont really be able to play them 24/7 at full power without frying one thing or another lol. Thats where good ole remote knobs come in =).
AA98hoe
Overpower subs and power all the time?.... bro id stick with 1 or maybe 2 amps...no way are you ready for 4. I have 3 alts 6 batterys and 10 runs of 0g and its not enough at idle to support 15k..2 alts and 20 batterys mite get you minimum voltage drop..but I doubt you have funds or space for that...I have over 5k in my electrical Edited April 11, 2012 by dc98hoe Quote TEAM DC AUDIO VEHICLE:98 chevy tahoe 2wd 3-4 drop HEADUNIT:alpine 9886 PREAMP:arcaudio FRONT STAGE:4-6 1/2s selinium,DD component set and 4-selinium tweeters in each door KICKPANELS:jl audio 5 1/4 REAR DOORS: dd components 6 1/2s HIGHS AMPS:zapco 750.2 on front doors, zapco an another 750.2 on kicks and rear doors SUBS:4-ascendant audio 18s with 5 spiders in a custom box built by KINGSUV SUB AMP: 2-dc7.5s ALTERNATORS: 3-mechmans 1- 425comp, 1-smd spec350, 1-270 with adj voltage harness on custom dc bracket WIRE:10-runs 0g front to back BATTERIES:6-d1400s TL results:157.1 at 38hz and 156.8 at headrest score @37hz.
