First Box Build: RE Audio SX18D2/4 1995 VW Golf GL

Recommended Posts

Looking to build a box to fit in my 1995 VW Golf GL with the RE Audio SX18D2/4 (If anyone could tell me the difference between the D2 and D4 this would also be great) My maximum dimensions are:

90cm Length x 45cm Height x 45cm Depth

or

35.4 Inches Length x 17.7 Inches Height x 17.7 Inches Depth

I've been using the RE Audio Box Calculator but don't fully understand it:

http://www.reaudio.com/box.php

I can't seem to even figure out what units are being used I'm sure it's inches but the Box Volume seems wrong,

with the dimensions in, it seems to only say 3 cubic feet which seems wrong considering I believe this sub needs 8.

I'm probably looking at the wrong value or something but just want to get myself a really good box design in the end.

Thanks In Advance.

Here is how you calculate box size.

Length X Width X height = total cubic inches / 1 cubic foot which equals (1728)

35 x 17.5 x 17.5 = 10718.75 / 1728 = 6.20 cubic feet.

6.20 cubic feet is without the taking away the amount of space the sub will take. Also if you port it which chances are you will cause you don't want a sealed box that big.

When subs say D1, D2 or D4. This is meaning dual voice coil and the ohms it is. So D1 dual 1 ohm, D2 dual 2 ohm and so on.

Need anything else message me or ask on here. There is always someone that knows every answer on this forum lol
