The Truth about the power of Solo X. Either Kicker is wrong or they tricked us?

1,500 or 2,500 watts?

Couple of years ago, The Kicker Company surprised everyone with the power of Solo X (especially 10" and 12") when it first came out. They claimed that it can take as much as 2,500wrms. Until a year ago or so, all of the suddenly, the Kicker site now changed the information and stated that 10" and 12" can only take as much as 1,500wrms and not 2,500wrms. Even the beast of Solo X18" can only take 3,000wrms. It is interesting to note that Kicker.com is the ONLY website that states 10" and 12" are 1,500wrms (all other sites said 2,500wrms).

Wait, before you say something like "Ha, I knew it. They can't even take so much power!", check also on L7 series. On Kicker site, it says that 10"L7 is only 450wrms (huh?! :shok: ) and not 600wrms! Either Kicker got it wrong or they've been tricking people for years. I have a pair of S10"L7 powered by KX1,200.1 (birthsheet says ~1,500wrms) and I pumped 'em really hard without a single problem (see pictures below).

What does that mean for me?

I had a thought about getting solo X 12" sometime in the future and I need to know the proper power, size of box, etc. If X12 can only take 1,500 watts, then forget it. I probably get me another pair of 10L7s (4 in total), powered by a ZX2500 in a big ported box. I am pretty sure that each sub can take a little more than 600wrms with proper installation/power and all that. What do you think?

This picture below is my next plan (speakers on door probably will change overtime but...) Little truck, big bass. :)

Either mainstream companies use different magnets on different sizes, or they think bigger subs need more power because they are heavier, so they give the bigger sizes a higher rms.

i know kicker is getting rid of the square subs finnally, they switched back to the old style round ones, which in reality is better for the simple person just looking for a bump so if they blow it, you can pop any sub in there, im guessing the power ratings went down aswell, seeing as we all knew they couldent take that power anyway :pardon:

Legal TL scores145.6 on the dash sealed up in the low 40hz area with the port out145.5 on the dash sealed up @30hz with the port inless then 1k clamped on a 3.5k!

Why would you EVER WANT flex?
huh?...flex is what can make the lows lower and more air being pushed correct?

in all the time ive dealt with Barry from kicker it has never been published in there owner manual, it did however state it on the intro page but it is listed as peek not rms

happy to be proven wrong through,

kicker is funny about how they publish there specs

back in the early 2000, they never listed rms ratings on anything, only peek, now they list both

all there specs are gross not net with 50%pollyfill

they list up to 4 max rms for each sub, sealed compact, sealed sq, vented compact and vented sq

they state that all there rms ratings, are rated for there amps (witch are under rated)

and if you look ll there boxes are the same, for just about the entire range

450wrms is for ported and 600wrms is sealed,

sorry to burst that bubble

and if you contact kicker direct (through there web site) they also recoment setting all there amp with an osteoscope,
