That's probably the one I'm gonna end up running. Not as much output as that dc at idle but I'll make up for it with some batteries. What battery do you have under the hood? I'm about to measure tomorrow to see what xs batt I can fit in there. The battery that's in there now looks like it goes to a lawn mower or something. I have a 99 s10 ext cab by the way. I'm starting small sax-1200d, sa15, sax-100.4, set of image dynamic 6.5 chameleons in each door, pioneer deh-80prs head unit. I want to do more but not enough room for box, amps, batteries back there.

I recommend you call mechman before ordering. Honestly, if I saw that alt before I purchased this one (about a year ago) I would have bought it. The picture looks like the 4.3 (standard GM large case type) alt. If it is it will not bolt up to the factory mounting points. They may have just used a generic picture though.

Has anyone else purchased this alt from Mechman for the 2nd gen 2.2l s10 ?

Right now I just have the stock battery under the hood. But I will be doing the same - largest XS Power D-series that will fit properly. I'm tempted to do just 1 15 in the ext cab area also, but I would still run my amp/extra batts in the bed. Get a bed cover, it opens up a whole world of options. I got mine from craigslist for a reasonable price. Took a while of contantly looking but I finally found one that matches the paint and everthing. Good luck on your build!

I was thinking the same way with the bed cover and amps n batts in the bed. But I'm running a box that is 41w x 23h x 10d with 3-4" ports 18.5"-19" long, sub forward ports firing to passenger side. That leaves alot of room on the box for amp mounting with room to breath. The box should be about as deep as that ledge coming off the back wall which leaves room for all the batteries you want inbetween the box and seats. I figured I would try this setup first n see how it works since I'm 6'3" and need my leg room. I probably won't get the rest of my equipment until mid to late may. I'll of course put up a build log so you can see how it all works out.

Did some rewiring on the stock electrical. I replaced the power wire from battery to fuse center and the starter wire with steel-braided ofc welding cable.

What is this for? Thought the big 3 was the stock electrical upgrade. Never heard of a starter wire upgrade. Can you post up some detailed pics of your big 3? Gonna do mine in a few weeks.

I have the mechman 270 on my 2.2L, It is a large case GM just like your DC. It comes with a small bracket that looks very similar to the one you made. It is a beast for sure very happy with it

TDH FTW !!!

The factory wiring from the bat to the fuse center is very tiny. Some people complain about diming headlights even after Big 3 when they put their system in. Upgrading to 1/0 here helps this issue. The starter wire is unneccessary. I just had a bunch of extra cable so replaced the ugly stock run with the steel-braided. I dont have a battery yet but I will post some Big 3 specific pics tomorrow or later this week.

Thanks for the reply about the Mechman alt. That explains how they are selling the large case GM for the 2.2 for sure. Do you know how long your belt is ?
