98' Ford Escort Zx2 - Beginning of a Rebuild

Audiopipe ftw

I thought I blew something in my audiopipe earlier this week, but I let my buddy Cashdollar2009 borrow it for a competition and it seemed to do pretty well actually. They're cheap and they put out :good:

So I went to Lowes recently and got some 3/4" MDF..... The final result will be one Skar VVX-12 D4 in a ported box tuned to 35 Hz. I'm thinking of getting sasquatch fur to line the port so you can see the airflow :good:

Now all I need are some tools.......

Tuned in.Very interesting as I'm building my wife's 99 ford escort lx.

I'm glad that I have some followers lol, I'm not doing any kind of insane build or anything like walling if off. The box will be huge compared to my trunk, but It should be good. What kind of build did you have in mind for your wife's car? There is another pretty cool build that you might want to check out. Here is the link:

So far we put two 10" Jbl subs seal 1ft3 each sub.Running off a soundstorm 1500.1 at 2ohm.Front is at the moment auto tech 6.5" componets but will change it to RF 6.5". It's putting out 668 watts rms total system. It ain't much compared to some I've seen but it was geared more for her. With some what sound quality in mind which it sounds good. Now with her car it's a 4 door and the trunk may be a little bigger.I would rather put some 15's in it but " no" says wife I lose lol

That sounds like it slams. I'm afraid of voltage drop and keeping a battery in the trunk which is why I'm only doing 500wrms and a single 12" in a ported box. I just have Polk audio DXI coaxials in the front (6.5) and back (6x8) powered by the HU. If the sub overpowers the speakers then I'm going to have to look at getting an amp for mids and possibly upgrading to some components. Money is always the restricting factor though :/

It is almost always a money factor for most of us lol.It has taken almost 1.5 years for me to get all the stuff for the van.I have had issues with voltage drop with her escort also big three helped.Plan on getting a bigger alt for her car.Her escort has the 2.0 single overhead cam.It hits deep and hard for the power.Don't move any air but things wiggle and you can feel it in the throat lol.You will need some amp front and rear stage eventually to keep up with the bass.I did away with the 6x8s in the rear for comps didn't need them but wanted them.A batt in the trunk wont be no prob as long as it's not a acid batt correct me if I'm wrong on this.

I borrowed some tools from my boss tonight and got to work on this MDF. It's not perfect, but keep in mind that this is my very first box build so it won't be perfect. A table saw would have been nice though

It's not too bad, I hope to get it screwed, glued, and caulked tomorrow

I don't know how long my car is going to last haha. I don't have the resources to buy a high output amp and I need at least some trunk space so that I can use my car to travel home. Otherwise I would go all out and fill the trunk with box. I want to look at 4ch amps and see about getting on mounted underneath the driver seat where the factory amp used to be for the "premium" sound system. I'm not a fan of wiring the entire vehicle though, especially when it gets really hot in the summer.
