Sorry for the delay, had a lot going on.

Hope you're ready for a lotta pics.

Before we get to the box build, here's a quick wiring update.

I ordered some Stinger 8ga from eBay:

Thanks USPS! :aggressive:

If you care, then you probably wouldn't treat my packages like a football...

Luckily it was just wire and it was fine.

Instead of RCA's I wanted to try something different and run RG6 coax cable:

51-coax-stripped.jpg

I read some good reviews on this Canare LV-77s. It's got a stranded center conductor and DOUBLE braided jacket which really helps on noise immunity.

All copper BTW. It is a little stiff compared to a simple RCA's but it should be a good trade off.

My Alpine HU only has 2V pre-outs so I wanted to ensure I get a good clean signal back to the trunk.

FYI, its great marketing hype, but twisted pair wire (RCAs) are only effective if you have balanced (differential) outputs from your source.

A coax cable with shielding all around the center conductor is a much more effective way to eliminating noise. If you want to go with the extra expense and hassle.

If your system works fine with basic RCA's then by all means go with it. I just wanted to try something different.

Here's the coax with some compression fit RCA connectors.

Wires run to the trunk.

If you're curious, here's the factory "subwoofers" provided by Harmon Kardon.

35-factory-subs.jpg

The little black box next to the subs is the amp. <_<

Factory navigation, amps , etc...

33-trunk-assys.jpg

No need for you so ya gotta go.

34-trunk-gut.jpg

Factory battery location.

47-stock-battery.jpg

See the black terminal at the end of the power wire which connects to the battery?

That is an explosive device that disconnects your battery when the airbags go off. :o

Wasn't happy see that and having to figure out what to do with it.

In my experimentation with the cable, sure enough, the custom T-nut at the end broke and I had to order a new one.......for about $20 with shipping. :aggressive:

Anyway the stock battery comes out and a new XS Power XP3000 goes in....and another on the other side of the trunk. :drink40:

Very nice, I kinda want a 2001 325 when my Caddy finally decides to go.

My Caddy is the same way with the battery except it is under the backseat, I too have that positive terminal under the hood. It looks like the positive alt is ran to that terminal but then fused after then run through to the actual battery in the rear?

Looks great so far! My friend wants me to do a system in his 325 this summer so I may have a few questions for you haha

I like the drill hole in the copper terminals to fill with solder, i had the exact same idea when i did mine, works great!

Alt positive goes to an open space under the hood where it's fused. Then runs back to the rear battery. Gonna add another 300A fuse before the battery to cover both directions in case of a short in the middle.

Thx Man!

Bring on the questions, I learned a lot tearing this thing apart...whew.

Yep, I like the hole in the lug idea! Beefy terminal with easy soldering! Win-win.
