Also Edgar, it helps in tuning also because the subs sense/split the volume, but your port will not. It will sense 12 cubes. So in other words, your port can be shorter as well, which is an added benefit of common chambers.

there are also a few other pro/con

pros

smaller box saves space, and uses less wood, $$$ in the pocket

flattens out the response peek,

increases port efficiency, ie. 2 ports 3"x10" have a surface area of 52" but a 1 port 6"x10" is only 32"

allows a shorter port to be used,

cons

all subs must be the same identical sub

should share common power source

lower box response peek (if your chasing numbers)

box can't be split to fit into smaller areas. ie, 2 smaller boxes on each side of car, allowing access to the centre for storage (depending on sub size)

Shorter port will be a good thing, the box is going to be shallow relative to its WxH.
