snafu
I've seen countless threads about how it's acceptable to put a lug on the end of a cable with anything you have on hand. Bench vises, vise grips, hammers . . . they all have their intended purposes and none of those include terminating a lug on a piece of cable. Guys, this just isn't the correct way to do it. Time is the enemy of such poor quality terminations. As they are high in resistance to begin with, this resistance causes heat. Heat over time is the problem. So, what happens when you throw caution into the wind and do it that way anyhow? Heck, it worked just fine for Bill . . . Well, I just happen to have such an example that I pulled from a vehicle and I thought I'd share it. Not only is this going to be a massive bottleneck, this is a FIRE HAZARD! So, if you do undertake this process yourself and do not own (or have access to) the correct crimping tool, then refer to the threads here at SMD that show you how to solder with a torch and become good at it.
