Greetings,

I'm tryin to sell one of my cars but I'm confused with the small details. I'm selling a 94' Chrysler LHS, which is in Kentucky to someone who is in Ohio. So far, we both agreed on cash and in person. He would come to Kentucky. But what is required on my end, and his end?

I've sold a car in state, so I understand the process. But I've never sold a car to a stranger out of state. Like, do I leave the plates? Once the cars out of my name, does he have to register the car in his state? etc.

Many thanks,

you would just need a bill of sale saying he bought it and the title!

Thats cool. Im way too old to be upset by shit like that. Your name is winston. Your own parents hated you even before you were born.

My penis is bigger than your penis

I'm far from loud and my roof/headliner flaps around like Adam's ass on a windy day. I think it depends more on the structure of the vehicle.

It should be the same as if you sold it in your state. I personally make up an agreement form when i sell anything high in value like a vehicle that says that the buyer agrees to paying XXXXX for the (model car) with (odometer reading) miles and is being sold as is with no implied warranties. I sold my old car and my sisters old car that way and the idiot that bought it tried coming after me and my dad saying there was a problem with the brakes when we test drove it around the block and on the thruway the same day they went and bought it from me and my dad. By them signing that agreement if they decided to take me to court for the car having problems i have them by the balls with them signing the agreement. I was also an asshole and they paid me all in cash and the guy pulled money out from 4 different pockets on his jeans and i took my counterfeit pen and checked every single bill right infront of him and his dad. lol.

Its the same no matter where you are, the buyer has the responsibility to get it registered, insured, inspected, pay the taxes, etc. That is not at all your problem. Like with my car i had it sitting next door in my neighbors driveway for a few weeks until it was sold and i took my licence plates i kept the same and photocopied them and put a copy of it in a plastic sleeve and screwed it to my back bumper because it is against the law in NY to have a vehicle visible that does not have valid licence plates. When i sold the car the guy who bought it wanted me to keep my plate on there just so he could drive it home which was 10 miles away but i said hell no, its my plate and my ass that will get in deep shit if you do something with it.

Most insurance companies cover a newly purchased vehicle just as long as it takes to get it home. Most cops are pretty reasonable too. Especially if you have a buddy in a vehicle escorting you.

2015 Subaru Outback. That is all, I refuse to touch it.

I am checking into my insurance about that tomorrow. Obviously, it only has liability XD.

Still working on getting this thing out of my drive way. It appears to be the exact same on my end besides I have to take the plates in while switching the title etc. to get it out of my name.

I'm working on a deal atm. I'll report back when its sold and let you know how it goes.

Sold the car today! The deal started at $700, then to $850 with the sound system included. // TMA amp t500.1 ($70) giggity and 2 Emence Labs Gen 2 12"s in a old sealed box ($150) and some older JVC headunit.

We were still colliding on where to go to do the switch, here or there. Schedules led this deal to be one confusing clusterf^&k. I'll spare you the arguments and small confusing details. But the test drive was running around trying to cash a check within a 10 min window. Which ended up taking like 30 mins.

We ran out of time so in order to do the transfer we ended up going to Ohio that was 20 min away as that office stayed open later. All I had to do was sign the title and take the money. The buyer put old plates on the car which they can use for 30 days. I took mine. I have to turn in my plates at the court house here in KY.

Canceling the insurance tomorrow.

Wont ever sell a car out of state again. Thanks for your guys help.

I may be wrong, but Im pretty sure you need to have the title notorized with a bill of sale or something. Dont remember all the details, but I sold one of my old cars to a co-worker, kept my tags, and did pretty much the same thing you did, except he payed in cash. I even wrote out a generic bill of sale which we both signed...

Long story short, 2 weeks later, I got a call from a detective with the Pittsburgh Police telling me my car had been impounded and he was arrested for a DUI (real winner) and I was responsiable for the the car still because the buyer had not transfered the tags and title or something into his name yet. Had be killed somebody, I woulda been held liable. Luckly the cop didnt cite me, I bailed the car out, and went to a notery with the bill of sale and thank god she signed off on the title that it was no longer mine. That could have turned out MUCH MUCH worse, from what I thought was a harmless, good looking out sale to somebody who was in need...

Just food for thought... OP
