AA98hoe
Op.. I believe he didn't want to sell you pdxs because he knew he wouldn't make any money.. I remember in the 80s 90s.. all prices were set.. amps were like 3dollars a watt...then you got all these shops pop up and undercut people on prices to make a quick buck..then they start selling cheap chinese stuff claiming its better...case in example..was at a shop last weekend that carry mainstream rockford alpine memphis etc an the cheap crap...salesmen said someone asked about us carrying DC and I told them no one will pay that price.... I'm thinkn wtf.. you charge double there price for t2s or 2500s..and I knew it was all about profit not product..I actually would never work in a shop like that again ever...or buy from them.. blaze72575
We have got 3 maybe 4 shops and 1 mobile installer within 40 minutes from where I'm at and 1 use to be the place to go to get parts, gear, and advice, but now they have a contract with the local Ferrari, Lambo, Maserati dealer leaving a guy like me out of luck to get anything in the way of supplies or service because I don't drive a vehicle they feel they can brag about working on. Then the next shop is ok but way overpriced for the knowledge and quality of work. I had my 3303 put in there and was told I NEEDED not suggested but NEEDED the barrier sensor on my 98 blazer that only had wheels and simple bolt on mods to the body and a new head unit in it, and when I said no I didn't want it the guy said when you decide to do it right then come back. So I started to look around to have another Viper authorized dealer put it in because if not I would just have a really fancy keyless entry because Viper wouldn't warranty it. That was a huge selling point because lets be honest the money they will reimburse you if you ride gets broken into and/or stolen may not cover the cost of what I have in it now or will be putting in it, but between ins., gap ins. and Viper I can get a new car at least. So having not found anyone but them I went back and had to drop it off before they opened due to scheduling and left one note asking to make sure the valet switch was installed properly per Viper regulations, and so when I picked it up the guy looks at me and says what did this mean what is a valet switch? Then last month I was taking out the dash to start work on my interior to find the alarm module was zip tied to a cluster of wires and that it was rubbing against another set of wires on the sharp edge of the module causing it to start cutting the ancient wire and causing a short. That was a 350 dollar install for a 400 dollar alarm, and I wasn't even given options on how I wanted it set up or given a demo on how it worked I was just handed the remote and paperwork and said this button turns it on and this one turns it off bye. This same shop has a sign on the door from the owner that say if you are unhappy with the service you receive from your sale or installation call me at this number below and I will do all I can to help! When you call it goes to voice mail and he never calls back. This is not just car audio its every retail place now, we have forgotten what customer service is until we don't receive it! I did some repair work on a co-workers car and after I did the work I detailed it and delivered the vehicle back to him, and did not charge him any extra. This is customer service, this is what is missing from Car Audio Shops now. That little extra, a friendly attitude, being treated with respect even if you have no knowledge or you have a wealth of knowledge. The world is being taken over by those people who say I don't think I can do this on my own, so they pay the ones who can the extreme amounts of money to do it for them. To me the hardest part of mobile media is the electrical aspect, but for me it is just a matter of research, application, and practice. Those who say they can't do it before they try are just being lazy.
LT.Smoke
I still support my local shop.... The only thing i get on the web is wire because its cheaper... He carries great stuff but its to pricy... The shop owner treats all his customers fair on prices but i understand he has expenses to cover so I dont fault him for having things priced the way he does.... He is very knowledgeable and cares about having satisfied customers Team MaxRetribution Si Vis Pacem Parabellum Id rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6 Bowhunting- Life Begins and Ends at Full Draw Bowhunting Team Fatal Trajectory Hunt Team http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/49335-sick96vtecaccords-t-line-build/?hl=sick96vtecaccord << Accord Build http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/68498-smokedout08impalas-tline-build/?hl=+sick96vtecaccord << Impala T-line build Rebassed.com for all your music needs 👌

CJ18
Our basic labor rate for basic wiring etc is 70.00 per hour. Our custom or advanced install rate starts at 125 per hour. There are guys in the US charging in excess of 250 per hour and I feel those few are worth every penny. What i do is just a drop in the bucket of custom install. I sure try but there are some guys that make me look like a 3yr old doing fab work. I love that some of you understand the difference from going to someone that does tint, headlights, paint, vehicle wraps, lowering, and car audio vs. going to a specialist. Just like if you needed heart surgery, would you rather go to a walk in clinic because he went to med school too, and could probably do the task or go to a specialist heart surgeon? ..... Exactly And which one will cost you more? No matter what your prices are, the customer gets what they pay for and not some hack job install. Its shops that charge your prices and give 1/4 of the quality that run themselves out of business. The good shops will always stay in business just because they do good work. People will always pay for quality. Once a shop gets a rep of over charging and doing crappy work, they dont stay around for long.
CHEVY4X4BLAZER
I wish there was a decent shop around here that would build a box for me. One place I stopped by said I need 1.5 cubic feet of airspace for my MX18
Born_Again
Sound Waves in Anoka, MN forced me to pay an extra $50 after they built my $350 box too small for the W3s I bought there. Not only will I never spend another penny there, I will tell everyone who asks not to shop there either. They think they made an extra $50, but they really lost thousands of dollars. I have no sympathy for any shops like that.
