Realisticlly speaking, What can this electrial support daily...

Recommended Posts

So, while I build my electrical, I'm curious what you guys think it will support realistically speaking. It will consist of the following:

1 Mechman 270 w/ AVBM, 1 D6500, 3-4 D3100's. 2 Runs of Kollouss from bat to back, Big 3, hard wired XS HF1215. WIll be charged once every 2 weeks...

I'm pretty much half way done with that, should finish it in the next month or so.... But while I wait, I just wanted some opinions on what I can really expect to support with this setup. Just want to get some ideas so I can piece my next upgrade items based on your recommendations. My goal? Just to be loud as a mother, and still have my car start everyday.

depends on whether you use 3 or 4 D3100s since that can be quite an increase. Id say with 4 you can squeeze 15000w

Well XS Power rates the D3100 at 5000w each. I use 85% of that as a more realistic number to play music over a lengthy period of time.

Time is the forgotten factor when discussing power

Now most amps will make about 85% of the power they draw. Maybe less.

So lets crunch those numbers.

4 x D3100s at 5000w each = 20,000w + D6500 @ 3000w. = 23,000w. - engine and car electrical = 22,000

85% of 22,000 = 18,700

85% of 18,700 = 15,895

Now like I said, that is the upper limit of what you have the potential to make. As long as the amps are running efficient, and the batteries are charged up.

You can't support 15k rms with a single 270 amp alternator...

You should have ATLEAST two 270 amp alts for 6-9k rms to have little voltage drop

I was thinking that a 270 alt would allow you to have 3240 rms on a 12 volt system or 3888 rms on a 14.4 volt system safely.

With one single 270 amp alt you should be okay at around 4k rms. Depending on how efficient your amps are
