Going to be doing HIDs soon. Need some advice and suggestions

Recommended Posts

I just started doing my research on HIDs for my silverado and I don't know what I should go with for the brightness/color. 6000k or 8000k . Can someone tell me the difference? I was on simplyhidkits.com and they have a sample of a car you click the settings and it's supposed to show u what it looks light but the 8k looked less bright but like a cleaner light if that makes sense. What brands are reputable where are good places to order from and how much should I expect to pay for some decent kits?

The higher the number the bluer the color. 4300k is suppose to be the brightest and cleanest white. Anything above that will have a hint of blue. Also 35 watt and 55 watt ballast will also play a part in color. 55 watts is suppose to be brighter. But may be less reliable although I hear they are getting better. And as far as sites DDM tunning is very popular. Also The retrofit source store is a great place to buy from. Plus it is always best to use hid in a projected housing. Not the halogen housing

So the 35 w is more reliable? And is 6000k brighter than 8000k just less blue? I probably won't be replacing the housing I really like everything about my stock lights if I change them it will be a couple years down the road probably

I have 35w 5k lows and fogs. DDM sent me a wrong bulb, which was 6k.. but I actually liked the color more. It just wasnt as bright. They fixed the problem though and sent me a new pair of 5k bulbs.

8k is just WAY too blue imo. It wouldnt be as bright, and would look odd.

Id def order from DDM Tuning again.

yeah 6k would be slightly brighter cuz its not as blue. also if you do a lot of night driving the bluer the light, the more fatigue you put in your eyes

6000k in a projector for max brightness and performance. I would not even put HIDS in a halogen housing it looks like crap to me with the light going all over the place.

I know it would optimize them if I get projectors but it will still be brighter and a white clean light rather than yellow. It would look better but not the best it could.

Just for the hell of it I was looking at these , http://www.carid.com/2012-chevy-silverado-headlights/spyder-ccfl-halo-led-projector-headlights-439828.html Are HIDs included with this or just led lights? I'm not sure of the difference cuz people on the reviews are saying brighter white or blueish light these HIDs are great stuff like that so I'm confused
