SnowDrifter Posted July 2, 2012 Report Share Posted July 2, 2012 (edited) So by now, I'm sure many of you have noticed that certain animated gif files don't seem to work when you try to set them as your profile picture. There are some things to know if you want it to work. - If you are a contributing member: your avatar must be 500kb or less - If you are a free member: your avatar must be 150kb or less Many animated gifs are too large to be used with this forum. Here is how you fix it. The forum uses 94x94px images. Anything larger than that is simply wasted space. Go to this website and resize the image to 94x94px http://www.online-image-editor.com/ If it is still too large, there are a couple other things you can try. Both will reduce the image quality somewhat, so try one or both methods according to your taste. 1. Use this website to reduce the number of colors in the image to make it smaller http://www.gifreducer.com/ 2. Go to this website, upload your photo, click 'wizards' in the bar across the top, click 'gif only,' then click remove every other frame http://www.online-image-editor.com/ If you have tried all of the above methods and still can't get it to work, PM me and I should be able to help Thanks to HatersGonnaHate, Kranny, and DjCrush. I know there was one case (torres) where he sent me one and I fixed it up and actually had it as my own gif for half a day or so, but he couldn't get it to work on the exact direct link as mine... he also couldn't like any posts since the update.
