Ground to the Chassis or Run a Ground Cable? CE Auto Electric Supply Partners with D'Amore Engineering to answer - Video on Pg 5!

Recommended Posts

This is what I have and the problem I'm running into

1. OFC 0 gauge from factory 170amp alt to distro

2. From distro to factory batt with two OFC 0gauge leads to aluminum bus bar for all amps

3. Dual OFC 0 gauge ground off fact batt to factory battery ground location and engine block.

4. Dual OFC 0 gauge ground from aluminum bus bar to car frame in the rear.

I have two JLHD 1200/1 and two JLHD 600/4

When I'm playing system near full tilt voltage is dropping down to 9-11 volts sometimes. I was told I should run a ground wire from front battery to rear ground car frame location.

See above comment. You may want to read THIS. Also, upgrade your alternator to one that is suitably sized to the task as hand. Your voltage drop is indicative that you've exceeded the capabilities of the existing one.

Just for my curiosity. I have a 97 e-150 van with full frame. I will be under 4000 watts. I planned on the big three. Running one run of power and ground to the back of the van. Plus a ground to the frame rail in the back for extra ground. After watching the vid a couple of days ago is this thinking over doing it? Do I just stick with grounding to this frame rail on this vehicle?

How many amps are your alt/alts?
