Alright guys I have another question that's gonna make me look like a car audio noob.

My Dad likes me to explain everything I do to my system and the reason why I'm doing it. I was explaining the Big 3 and he wants to know why you run a power wire from the positive of the battery to the alternator. I couldn't even answer it.

If you could tell me why please do.

Thanx

So that the alternator can charge the battery. That's the simplest answer.

i would explain it more as running the positive on the alt to the battery.... that way the battery gets power DIRECTLY from the alt as opposed to going through anything else.... plus thicker wire = more current = :morepower1:

it also improves voltage, which is the biggest reason why people do it I think. That's why I did it anyway

That is an even better way to put it.

I'm about to install a volt meter so I can watch I voltage but I see a lot of people running 14 volts is that necessarily good?

yes that is good. if it's sitting around 14v while playing then you have a good system. You want to start getting worried when it's dropping below 12v. Amps like to operate at higher voltages, if you drop down too low then your amp will go into protect which is bad.
