looking to get the most out of xd2000 w/o alt upgrade

Hello

I have a A/B xd2000 with 18v operation and don't want to spend the money on up grading my alt

So I was hoping u guys could help I have about $200 bucks and I want to try and get as close to 18v

As I can I have a 1998 jeep Cherokee with the big three optima red top and 0 gauge knu wire then I have two massive caps 1.2farad and a2.0 radar so I know there are some car audio wiz kids on site to

Help in problem can't wait to hear some feed back

i think what they meant to say is,

it is very hard to get close to 18 volts, even with the right equipment.

and the gear you have, you most likely be idling at ~14 volts.

and i think those optimas are 12V batteries.

highest you could possibly run is maybe 16V with some Kinetik HC1600's

No you don't see it either. It's not as simple as buying a 16 volt battery. You still need have to address the issue of charging, the basic issue, which will not get resolved on $200.

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?

you're crazy genius if you can pull this off, the stock alt won't get nearly that high unless you get a high output alt (with voltage adjuster) to adjust the voltage that it sits at.

someone correct me if I'm wrong

18V is my max out put on my amp if i am crazy bc it sound like i am so i will add a battery and hope for the best

You're confusing max operating voltage for the amplifier and you're charging. Stock electrical is a 12volt setup charging at 14volts. Adding a 16volt battery does not make you charge at 18volts like it is assumed.

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?

what battery are you thinking of? you might want to upgrade the underhood battery too
