Mosin
Like title states, can a civilian such as myself purchase "LE" ammo? Specifically Federal Premium Tactical HST 165grn 40S&W (P40HST3) If so, what legitimate online site can I purchase from? I currently use Federal's 165gn Hydra-Shok round and kinda wanted a personal comparison. If it matters, my gun is a Glock 22 Gen 4. Thanks! Edited August 2, 2012 by Mosin Quote Derp. LT.Smoke
The HST is very similar to your hydra shok rounds bro.... Check out Hornady Tap FPD ammo as well... I have been using that for my 40 and 45 and it performs VERY well... I didnt like the critical duty but the critical defense is nice... If you really want a bad ass round... Check out Corbon DPX... Its really nice stuff Quote Team MaxRetribution Si Vis Pacem Parabellum Id rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6 Bowhunting- Life Begins and Ends at Full Draw Bowhunting Team Fatal Trajectory Hunt Team http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/49335-sick96vtecaccords-t-line-build/?hl=sick96vtecaccord << Accord Build http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/68498-smokedout08impalas-tline-build/?hl=+sick96vtecaccord << Impala T-line build Rebassed.com for all your music needs 👌
flashlight_65
I would check you state and county/local laws on what you can own. Here's a place to find hard to come by ammo http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/index.php?cPath=23_76_122&sort=&filter_id=30 Quote My builds: my caddy my 'hoe friends impala
focalrock4life
Yes you can buy it provided its legal in your state. It is in Florida. Me personally, Speer Gold Dot.
LT.Smoke
The BEST results i have gotten so far is from the TAP FPD and Corbon DPX that shit has some RETARDED expansion Quote Team MaxRetribution Si Vis Pacem Parabellum Id rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6 Bowhunting- Life Begins and Ends at Full Draw Bowhunting Team Fatal Trajectory Hunt Team http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/49335-sick96vtecaccords-t-line-build/?hl=sick96vtecaccord << Accord Build http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/68498-smokedout08impalas-tline-build/?hl=+sick96vtecaccord << Impala T-line build Rebassed.com for all your music needs 👌
Mosin
What are the main diffs between the HST and the Hydra-Shok rounds? Your guys' opinions on the two types are well appreciated. Lately I've been hearing that the Hyrda-Shoks penetrate to much, which got me a little worried. I will look into the Hornady brands, the Corbon ammo seems a bit to pricey. lol Quote Derp. LT.Smoke
Yes you will pay a little bit more for the Corbon but its WELL worth it The hydrashocks are great rounds and they do really well and are reliable From the guys i have talked to that run the HST they just have more expansion and create a larger wound cavity which in the name of self defense you want a round that does the most damage because its more likely to stop the threat... The Hornady TAP is a VERY reliable round as well and in my personal experience it has performed very well and all the tests i watched for ballistics showed it performs well also Quote Team MaxRetribution Si Vis Pacem Parabellum Id rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6 Bowhunting- Life Begins and Ends at Full Draw Bowhunting Team Fatal Trajectory Hunt Team http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/49335-sick96vtecaccords-t-line-build/?hl=sick96vtecaccord << Accord Build http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/68498-smokedout08impalas-tline-build/?hl=+sick96vtecaccord << Impala T-line build Rebassed.com for all your music needs 👌
Born_Again
I recommend buying what the police use in their firearms. If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for you and me. I can't imagine any but the most retarded gun banning states not allowing personal defense ammunition (which is pretty much what LE ammo is). CLNSHVNnDRAGGN
I recommend buying what the police use in their firearms. If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for you and me. I can't imagine any but the most retarded gun banning states not allowing personal defense ammunition (which is pretty much what LE ammo is). I disagree with the first part of this. Police departments have more to take into consideration when choosing their ammo than most think. They are more likely to have to use their firearms and use them in a more difficult situation than your every day Joe. With that in mind, just because it's good enough for them and fits their budget doesn't mean it's good enough for everyone else. In my area the cops use Speer Gold-dots. Not a bad round but not good enough for me. In all my 9mm's I carry Winchester Ranger SXT's (aka Black Talon's) either in 127gr +P+ or 147gr depending on which gun it's in. In my .45's I prefer Hornady XTP TAP FPD. I chose those particular rounds after doing my own tests with them along with researching them on the web.
