couldn't think of the exact work before but it velocity, it changes the velocity of the air,

Those 7"x7" blocks on each side are used for measuring, so the middle divider goes in straight, and if you want to get technical, they assist in compressing the air together while entering the line

Those side blocks would be fun to experiment by adding more to tighten the throat, to change velocity, you will change the tightness of sound, and even adjusts excursion, you can literally watch excursion change while tightening the throat up

But, lets just say they are there to keep the line divider straight, don't get confused
