on the 06-09 honda civics, the max dem without removing anything for your trunk is about 15.5"H 37"W 22"D. (measuring up against the rear seats, box can easily be removed)

you can only fit 12" subs max unless you start ripping the trim up or cutting.

if you go ported theres probably about 4.5 cu ft to play with anyways.

you can go bigger, my current box is 17H 38 wide and 15deep its a pita to get in and out but fits with a little force with all trim panels and carpet panels in

my current is 15.5" H 37" W 18" D.. its a little strategic to get in and out of the car

17H 38 W 18 D probably wouldnt fit lol.

Do the big 3, you can probably run about 1200wrms with acceptable voltage drop.

This is very accurate.

I ran 1200 on stock electrical, had some lights dimming, did the big 3 and it brought the dimming lights to a halt.

Cool I will have plenty of extra watts to spare then

And to know when to turn the eld bypass switch on, you need to have a voltmeter. Watching the voltmeter, you'll see voltage drop suddenly, that's the eld kicking in and being annoying :) since that write up, I've since removed that switch and ran that wire straight to ground, leaving the bypass enabled all the time. I've had no negative effects on my system since doing so.

Would u recommend I do this?

on the 06-09 honda civic, i have found that a 270 amp billet casing alternator is about as big as your going to get unless YOU customize under the hood and buy a different alt for a different vehicle that fits your specifications.

there is a few inches to play around with, after that you're going to have to start re cabling the alternator plugs.

Who told you that you will be able to get a 270amp HO alt that will fit in the stock location w/ no modification for a 8thgen civic? Mechman & Excessive amperage both biggest they can make without major modification is around a 220-225a. A alt that big on our cars the belt would slip.

Reminds me, Has anyone done this on the 5th gen yet? ( 92-95? )

And am i the only one on here with a 5th gen? ( Beside J00bles. )

I hate the ELD. Can't say its helped me not one bit the way i drive anyways lol.

And the biggest i can fit, and also told from others, is Two 170s Max.

Then again, my block has the B8 head not made for power but MPG. Soo.

I forgot about them...I've looked at that before, I've yet to see anyone with one of their units on a 8th gen civic though. I am willing to bet you would get massive slipping with it though. I get slipping and squealing now with my 225a when its under a descent load at idle.... I actually called them and asked and they said no slipping but i've asked alot fo people who have done some crazy alternator setups on various vehicles and they've all told me that they would almost guarantee me it will slip to much to actually put out the full 270

No not really, I run [email protected] daily with a 225a alt, d3400 & d3100 and occasionally add a batcap 4000 to the mix, 2 + runs of 1/0 and 2 frame grounds to each battery. I compete in IASCA so I'm limited to 2 batteries total but add the batcap for daily use. even full tilt during a bassboxing run which a 30sec average on music sealed doing a 148+ average, I stay mid/high 12's or even demoing unless its a low low song putting more of a strain on the system I still stay mid to high 12's, on a low song it is usually around 12.3.... while cruising at normal listening volume roughly 3/4, its 13.8+ on start-up I'm usually at 14.5-14.8 depending on weather.

For reference the meter on the left of the steering wheel measures the front battery and the one on the center console measures the rear battery

well as long as it doesnt slip at 2-3k rpm on 4.5k-5kwrms.. ill be fine

i doubt it will slip doing idle voltage and my current setup pulls like 140 amps so.

i mean what are your thoughts?
