Help w/box design for 1 15" z v.3 woofer

Recommended Posts

What's up everyone, just looking to see if someone can shoot me a design for a ported box for my new sundown z 15" v.3 woofer. I want to try an aero port so i can keep some trunk space lol Max dimensions are H15"xD26"xL34"

So here is a basic layout of what i am looking for.. I can use Torres to get a sealed design but just unsure on how much port i would need to get a 28-33htz tune I like lows haha.

well if you have any ideas or can shoot me a blueprint with cut sheet that would be great or if you know of a diff box calc that will help as well..

Here is a suggestion, 2K RMS limit and had to go to 15.5H hope you can fit that :

Enclosure Specifications:

Fb = 33 Hz

Vb = 3 ft^3

External Height = 15.5 in

External Width = 33.5 in

External Depth = 19 in

Port Width = 3 3/4 in

Cut Sheet List:

* All Dimensions in Inches.

* Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts.

External Enclosure Parts:

2 x Front & Back (3 parts) = 33 1/2 x 15 1/2

Left & Right Sides = 16 3/4 x 14

Top & Bottom = 33 1/2 x 16 3/4

L Port Internal Assembly Parts:

Front to Back = 13 x 14

Extension = 16 1/2 x 14

Assembly guide (generic dimensions):

Subsonic filter to 27 Hz. Let me know any questions.

OP have you already bought the sub? 15.5" would be cutting it very close for forward firing. unless you angled the face, i definitely wouldn't recommend upward firing it. It's gonna sound like shit (trust me i've tried).

If you haven't bought the sub already, i'd suggest getting a pair of 12's. it would fit much better into the space you have.

Just say no to Ground Pounder Customs.

some cars do over 170db with one sub, so clearly my two 12"s can do that in my car, with my knowledge too! look out bitches!

thanks man, but how about if i use a single 6" aero, not sure if i can clear the 15.5" thats why i was going to do sub up and port out the side.. I figured i could conserve a bit of space i was using Torres box calc and came up with this 14"H x 18"D x 34"L with a single 6"aero at 26"L would put me at 27.10htz..

well i had a 15" L7 firing upward before and sounded pretty good, then got the 10" v.3 liked it and wanted bigger thats why i got the 15" I might be able to squeeze the 15.5 in but i throw strollers in the trunk as well so wouldnt like for shit to be hitting the sub and i dont want to go sub facing seats haha

I tried with the 10" and didnt like the response as much as i thought might have been because the port was also facing the seats, mind you seats up as well. Would you suggest facing the seats with port on the side i would like to use a single 6" aero just not sure on length to get me around 27-29htz

Well if i do end up going with 15.5" tall then i will have to be very precise with my cuts lol, because it puts me right at 3/16" from my 6x9's magnet haha..SO i guess i will have to keep changing it up and see what i like best right..

I don't know what the deal is lately. there's been this obsession with tuning your box below 30 hz. I don't really see that as necessary. I think you'd be surprised at how much you can play below tuning
