meade916
that is a GREAT story to hear. Everyone here know's someone with a system that plays @ 22 (of 30) but is already in FULL DISTORTION at the amp level by volume 12. Imagine how much dirty, F##KED up power this guy had if his system was already suffering by 12 and he is 8 clicks past that......and trying to get more. That is what makes woofers stink, that is what makes tweeters sizzle, that is what makes customers return products to the store and the store blame the manufacturer. That store sends the woofer in and someone like Rusty loses money. Why? because the installer never bothered to set the gains properly. now the guy can roll around @ 28 out of 30 and never have a problem. Perfect. thanks for taking the time to post all that Rusty! We love hearing great stories like that! 6 Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! Over 1,000,000 subscribers strong! audiofanaticz
Nice save!! Did you mention to get the name of the shop he bought the woofer? I see you said he bought it from a retailer, which there are none of those online, so that retailer must of been a shop selling your product, but saying it cant handle its rated power??? Hard to believe not 1 but 2 shops could be so hack and have no idea how to even tune an amp or for that matter overlooked such a huge but simple issue.

Maebros
I would imagine that this is the exact reason why you are one of the vendors here on the forum. not only do you guys go through all the work of building the woofers for us but you also back them up and offer support (and knowledge) to those using them. Way to go Rusty, now im definitely glad im going with DC Audio. 1 Quote HU: Pioneer AVH x5800BHS SP Amp: AQ 120.4 Front SP: Hertz Hsk 165 Rear SP: DD cxs 6.5 SW Amp: Crescendo BC2000d SW 2 DC level 3 12" Electrical: Stock alt for now XS D2400 XS D3400 Knukonceptz Kolossus Second skin damplifier On 8/8/2012 at 4:50 PM, Brandon15zzz said: I heard he actually graduated college with a 4.0 gpa. Mike Whitenton
I have a line driver in my system that can output a 9Volt "line level" signal. If I blindly set my line driven output as maximum undistorted signal, I'd have the same problem this man had. My amps cannot handle that high of a line input signal. So to set my preamp output levels I have to turn the amp gains down and measure for distortion through the amp. With the head unit at max clean output and min on the preamp I adjust it's output until I get clipping and back it off until clean. Now that I have the maximum clean input to the amps I can do the normal amp gain procedure. The line driver adds an extra step.
