DD-1 and Stock Headunit

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've looked throughout the posts but couldn't find what I was looking for. I have a 2010 GMC Sierra with the stock headunit.

How do you get the DD-1 to detect a signal from the headunit. I've used the device on other aftermarket stereos which made it work fine. Is it because of my line output converter?

Thanks

Yes, most likely its your converter. If you wanna know where your stock head unit distorts at then disconnect the wires that go into your converter and hook up your dd-1 there.(DD-1 red to speaker positive and dd-1 black to speaker negative)

One of the beautiful things about the DD-1 is you don't actually have to unhook anything but the speakers from the amp. You can simply turn everything too minimum and adjust down the line. Assuming you have an amp since you mentioned a line-out converter, just attach the DD-1 per it's instructions to you amp, turn the amps settings according the the instructions, set all you EQ, loud, boosting, etc...settings according to the instructions. Then with the 0db tracks (40hz and 1khz) find your average for your H/U with the DD-1 hooked up to your amp. Turn your H/U to whatever volume you found to be your max, now adjust you line-out up until the DD-1 shows disortion. Do both of those with 0db tracks and use whichever tracks you want for the amps, I recommend the -5db tracks for those.

Feel free anyone to correct anything I am wrong about or add anything I left out.

Yes I Did. I just followed MrSkippyJ's instructions and I was able to get the amp tuned perfectly.

hmmm so your loc could be adjusted mine is just a simple box with i think was 3 wires to it i couldnt find a signal at all using track 1 and 2

the DD-1 requires at LEAST 1.8v. If you don't have that you might not show a signal. Test it THROUGH the amp with the gain all the way down if thats the case. It might work then. Gotta tell you though, most LOC's are DIRTY so don't be surprised if you see some distortion in there once you do get a signal.
