cheebs
as i was building my box i was doing a lot of looking and reading. it seemed to me that a lot of people build their boxes for the sa-8 bigger than what jacob recommends. i was seeing a lot of 1 cube per sub builds. why is that? VOPA
Because it gives more output. cheebs
Because it gives more output. how do you know how much power it can take at that point? doesn't making the box bigger make the subs able to take less power? sundownz
Yes, larger boxes reduce mechanical power handling. It is often difficult to fit the port in a box for a single woofer at a low tuning, though. fritosaregood
if your sticking with rated power you wont need to worry much about mechanical handling getting in the way with a larger enclosure. Ive throw way over rated power in a 1cube per sa8 box and they take the power well. cheebs
diy is all about sq. not achieving every last tenth of a db of output from your gear. totally different crowds. true but what i find is since they are so rigid when you get an answer to a question it is pretty much cosigned along the same lines by the others who answer and you can pick out the real from the bull a lot easier. here and some of the other boards answers are all over the place so it's harder to get a direct answer. but amps and wiring real dead on answers allday. i guess the way some good subs are underrated so many different ways it might work for some but not others. i had so many conflicting answers when i was building my box for my sa-8s that i passed over some great info that after building the box i now understand.
