markbuhler007 Posted September 25, 2012 Report Share Posted September 25, 2012 Hey just got my 240 big case conversion kit from Mechman and installed it. Its a 12 volt ho alt and im seeing 16v STEADY! There is no external voltage regulator on this alternator. I was wondering what i can do to step it down or is it just breaking in or can i put an inline voltage regulator on the cars adapter side? ive seen some Mechman alts with an external regulator and i was wondering if this was an option instead of sending it back for being "faulty" when its really just working too well! Buuut Mechman told me that they need the alt to make a modification so that we can use their external voltage regulator. It's cheap though. But shipping is killing us, as we are far in the Caribbeans ! So I don't know what to do. Maybe add some more batteries : he uses 3 or 4 Optima blue, and needs more ! crunkjuice1 Posted September 30, 2012 Report Share Posted September 30, 2012 Is there a POT/AVBM on the wire harness that was sent with your alt? Is the car factory alt harness straight plug N play? If there was a harness sent with the alt that sits between the alt and the cars factory alt plug it might have a AVBM that you can adjust.
