Love that Diamond Plate!

Oh- that isn't an 8 track! It is the good old AC-Delco tape deck! What year is your van? Must be 90s b/c you have room to put a double din Head Unit in there. Makes me jealous. I'm working with the single din.

And good thinking with the before pics of the doors and everything else. There will come a day where you will wonder what they used to look like. hehe Mine is the same interior color as yours- When I saw your bare doors I got all nostalgic. lol

And collin, i am SUPER happy with the way the diamond plate came out. Now ive got to decide if i want to use more to decorate the inside or not. Its a 1994. And there is not enough room for a double din, only 1.5 din but i more than happy with the 50$ alpine single din unit.

I just looked through your build and its awesome! Did you use sound deadener?

i sprayed the baffle that will be holding the window, and am not really happy with the outcome. so im going to try a different kind of paint, or just wrap it. not sure yet. its a textured undercoating paint

yeah lol ive probably got almost 4 hours of tapping the holes. if i remember right, there are 40+ holes that i drilled and tapped by hand!

and this is the biggest build ive done so far. im happy to finally get the chance to do something this big!

the undercoating that i sprayed on the back trim panel came out so bad. like 4 days later, i could rub my finger across it and it just came right off.

well since i wasnt happy with the undercoating spray on at all, i sanded it off and prepped it for something else:

first coat:

i didnt take any pics of it yet, but i went ahead and cut up the rest of the diamond plating that i had to fit the top, botttom, left, and right sides of the inside of the box. I used some weight to glue them altogether lol.

so i let those dry overnight, and next morning, i started out by mounting the plexiglass to the rear panel again.

then it came time to get the bracing setup. these are 1.5 inch plexiglass dowels.

all tapped and drilled on both sides

and...

oh, and i also bedlined the back of this panel because you will be able to see it in the reflection of the diamond plate

i went ahead and attached the ports to the front baffle and taped everything off and applied bedliner around the ports where there was bare wood, and around the speaker holes. at the same time, i went ahead and attached the 3rd baffle-the face to the other side.

got the baffles off the sawhorses and took some pics

just a mockup. im actually going to drill a hole through the port bracing and put the top rod right through it.

thants it for now. ive been working hard these past couple days on it and had to stop to let glue dry on the diamond plating before i could continue. next i will be assembling the box.
