Check it out. You saw the prototype of this in Steve's IS-F, now it's a legit kit.

Cooling Fan Activation Kit

Looking for a simple way to automatically turn on your electric cooling fans? Well, look no further. Our kit makes it easy! It features:

  • The most reliable relay we know of - the venerable Tyco/Bosch 30 Amp unit
  • Diode protection to prevent damaging the turn-on output of the source unit
  • All hardware required to install it
  • Step-by-step instructions

Most cooling fans require between a tenth of an am (100 mA) and half of an amp (500 mA). Our Cooling Fan Activation Kit can power thirty 500 mA fans!

The included thermostat is fully adjustable for activation between 90 and 130 degrees Fahrenheit. It includes a 5 foot long harness so that you can locate it nearly anywhere you would like to sense temperature, like near your subwoofer amplifiers.

Triggering Is as Follows:

1. The main power input to the relay must be powered up. This can be in the form of a dash mounted switch (sold separately), via the turn-on output of your source unit, or both.

2. The temperature reaches your set point.

3. Fans come on automatically.

4. Fans run until the ambient temperature drops approximately 10 degrees below your set point.

looks good! you are always coming up with great new ideas.

On the adjustable piece it looks like there are some temperature recommendations, is that correct and how you set it?

also do you recommend just using computer fans for cooling? or what fans?
