The lexus I just finished for a buddy.

Recommended Posts

OK here's my attempt to post my latest build.

Mind you: IT DOESN'T PULL CRAZY ##'s (140db on an AudioControl Epic-160 in dash mic)

But it doesnt need to. Daily driver. Nice to listen too and good for "Parkin Lot pimpin".

Ride: Pearl white 1993 Lexus SC300 (130k miles) INSANELY clean in and out.

OEM rims from a GS 430 (or some other lex he said, i forget).

Here's the ride:

Components:

Alpine CDA-9856

Audio Control Epic-160

Cadence MMX-5 5 1/4" Component set in stock door locations.

Audiobahn ABC4002Q 4" Componet set in stock rear deck locations.

(1)Kenwood KAC 8142 4-channel front/rear mids.

(2)Kenwood KAC 9152D's (one for each sub)

(2)Rockford Fosgate HX2 15's (srry not power series)

(1)Kenwood bass knob (hidden/left side of ashtray/storage)

~about 30ft^2 of FATMAT in trunk and over gas tank (which is in the trunk)

0ga power/grnd at battery.

Big 3 (not all vis in pics...cell cam sux)

8ga JL audio speaker wire to each sub.

-I modded the stock bose "boxes" in the front doors to accept the bigger magnets on the aftermarket 5 1/4's

-Modded the rear deck mounting rings and made sealed "pods" that hang under the rear deck.

-Made a trim ring to fill in around the Epic-160 in dash.

-cut 2-4" ports in rear deck to let it breathe better (there is already the hole from the missing STOCK 10" sub in the center of the rear deck)

-Built fiberglass/mdf box: 5ft^ft slot ported to RF rec'd specs...looks small to me but its sounds good...COULD prolly be louder but no room for port as I designed the box.

-Amp racks on both sides of trunk for the sub amps.

-Amp rack for 4chann midrange amp in center is fiberglassed/painted white and has a lexus "L" on the front in "negative" (everything else glows) glow-paint.

-MDF rear deck "port" or "air channelling" (section-see pics) to "funnel"/force bass into car.

-Everything is either white vinyled or painted white/glowpaint.

-Blue neons make the glow paint work and turn the trunk blue (wired to trunk light)

-It looks built in but can all be removed if the car goes in for repairs/fender benders.

here's how it looked when i got it.

Posted Image

Then I dynamatted/ Fat matted the trunk/gas tank

Posted Image

Posted Image

Next I had to figure the box out.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Then it got covered in white vinyl and the port painted white/glowpaint

Posted Image

Wired it up with 8ga JL speaker cable.

Posted Image

Posted Image

(rings are for brass marine battery terminals i used as dist.blocks to subs like in my car)

Then I turned the 4" component set in to coax's so they would fit ;-)

Posted Image

And the x-overs...

Posted Image

Mount under the rear deck pods. (foam in between and bolted tight-no rattles)

Posted Image

Rear deck w/ new "ports" cover by the 4'' grills and color matched/sprayed.

Posted Image

Posted Image

And lottsa foam so it doesnt rattle like a mofo

Posted Image

Front BOSE(Buy-Other-Stereo-Equipment) pods..modded to accept better 5 1/4's

Posted Image

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a68/CasperDaBoi/b667re2.jpg

Battery upgrade of course-it actually fits the stock batt tray (used to hold a 27F)

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a68/CasperDaBoi/3.jpg

But needed to be an inch TALLER ;-)

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a68/CasperDaBoi/6.jpg

and The cover got white vinyled...for NO REASON @ ALL...Practice maybe?

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a68/CasperDaBoi/8.jpg

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a68/CasperDaBoi/9.jpg

Trunk getting figured out...before i decide to use 3 amps...

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a68/CasperDaBoi/lex99996.jpg

Didn't take long...fig'd an extra amp might be fun;-) so instead of 1 sub amp on one side and the 4 chann on the other, we have a sub amp on each side and the 4 chann in the center on the fiberglassed mount.

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a68/CasperDaBoi/584ascd.jpg

Here's the "BASS FUNNEL"/rear deck port thingy-seals off most of the trunk and puts more air inside.

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a68/CasperDaBoi/20b7scd.jpg

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a68/CasperDaBoi/10f8scd.jpg

Those lil raised center sections that look like snaggle-teeth are to seperate the wires for the 3rd amp. Like this...

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a68/CasperDaBoi/7b30scd.jpg

And end up lookin like this @ the amp...

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a68/CasperDaBoi/e4b3scd.jpg

2 ga Power and ground even for the mid amp (that bend in the 2ga was a MUTHA!)

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a68/CasperDaBoi/3903scd.jpg

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a68/CasperDaBoi/8861scd.jpg

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a68/CasperDaBoi/b2a3scd.jpg

And here's most of the panels all vinyled and ready...

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a68/CasperDaBoi/5d7ascd.jpg

And here's the final product...what'ya think?

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a68/CasperDaBoi/51aascd.jpg

Lights...

I think all the pics..just not the dash (which is no big deal i'm sure but i'll post it if anyone see's/responds to this one)

Lemme kno what ya guys think. I already gave it back to the owner and HE loves it.

It's already too loud for him even tho it's almost -10db from my car but i'm sure his next setup will be bigger and badder, we all get used to it at some point.

(I ithink i used the right tag's on the pix according to the tutorial this time...if not I'm retarded and I'll try again later)

WOW-that was quick respondin-Thanx a tonn everybody this one was the biggest build since my car. It took forever cuz of work and school but the owner was very patient ridin round in his lil Tercel scraper ;-)

Yea I glassed the tub-I think the best pix of it are the side shots of the box sittin on the ground but i think i have one of the bottom side showing hw I pre-drilled and screwed thru into the center dividers/bracing to snug it up b4 i sealed the inside w/ "milkshake" (bondo/resin) & then undercoated it...

And here's one kinda showing (cell cam+gettin dark) the internal brace that doubles as the port.

I have video of when I gave it back to him for reaction and my buddy that filemd it was snappin shots of the walk thru. he still has it all on his Dig. cam but he's gonna transer it to his Photobucket and I'll get it up here for ya guys.

As for the video- I told him "we have to rename it the *FLEX-O-LEX*" cuz the trunk dances the roof jumps quite a bit and the doors shake like a wet dog. While I was showin em the trunk flex he got his finger caught in the gap between the trunk lid and rear window as it was picking up and snapping back down got his fingers pinched-which I have on vid/audio ;D...maybe put THAT in the "Bass is dangerous" file :D

Thanx again y'all, and I'll see if i can scrounge more pix-srry bout the quality on those-all from cell cam.
