ear2ear
Admittedly my first post was way off - I thought it might be a trick question. Since it's not (a trick), aren't we just talking semantics? I hope a video can show otherwise. Car on/car off - yes there will be a different return path, but aren't we just arguing whether it's the: a) SOURCE of greatest voltage potential or PATH to the source? In the house wiring example what do you want to call ground/common? Is it the: a) earth = (alternator) the point we access the earth - 6ft copper rod = (alternator case - car running) c) all the common house wiring = (chassis) What's the difference? You're either talking about the source or the path to the source. edit: shut off emoticons Edited November 8, 2012 by ear2ear Quote '09 Sierra Ext Cab - under construction (1) RF T2500-1 -running- (4) RF T1 12's (1) RF T1000-4 -running- (2) RF T1652-S Stock alt / battery -plus- (1) DC Power 230a & (2) Kinetik 1800 Buncha OFC Knu Buncha Second Skin Kenwood DDX814 - Alpine Imprint - RF 360.

KingPepsi
Me, personally, I would go for the point with the least amount of resistance between batt neg and point of ground. So if you batt is in the front, short cable from batt to frame and short cable from system to frame. Or if you like spending money then run several runs of 1/0. And remember unless you are running 1000 amps worth of alternators, its your battery or battery bank that is going to be seeing the highest current draw. So having your ground as close to the batt neg as possible would be best. Same goes for your pos side. Path of least resistance is the key. Quote This signature intentionally left blank.
