Truconcept
is having your amps "grounded" to the negative of the battery better than the frame of the car? what do the pros do? Buss bar neg if it is practical, but if not frame is fine as long as you have frame ground to support that to the neg of the bank. what if there a battery grounded in the trunk.... if wanting to ground amps to the frame should u use the same ground location as the battery? So if you added a battery in the truck, ground to the battery neg if practical if it isn't then frame point should be common to avoid ground loop. which in your opinion is better for the amp? AMI CUSTOMS
Battery neg is ALWAYS the best spot, given that your two options are equal. Meaning if I have my amp placed close to the battery bank, and my amp ground is gonna be 10 inches to battery neg or 10 inches to frame/chassis. I am going to the battery neg everytime. The shorter the path for return to the battery the better. CHEVY4X4BLAZER
Alternator casing is the absolute ground when vehicle is running. What if you pull 200 amps and your alt only does 150, where is ground alt case or battery neg? LOL Ok In that case.. the battery once again becomes the power source... because of it's buffering capabilities, I believe. SnowDrifter
Ground is whatever path leads to the battery negative or alternator casing(assuming a typical negative ground system). It is the side of the circuit that has has the abundance of electrons. will77530
maybe completely wrong but electricity is a circuit it flows in a circle so to me it has to have the same start and end point so maybe the ground is the altenator case

AMI CUSTOMS
There is a basic DC circuit only different between that and a vehicle is we dont have have large resistance values like that lol. Blackedout
Ground is the common return path for electrical Current. Negative Is the point where positively charged particles are attracted to. Positively charged particles reach the negative by means of a ground. Opposites attracts. (Both magnetically and electrically) Quote Trunk Build Log
