Jordan Guess
previously i asked for some suggestions on a fuel efficient car. I got great responses and succeeded in finding what i needed. Now I have another dilema since I feel like my 99 Ranger is going to go out on me any time now. We get some decent snows where i live, most of the time a front wheel drive will do the trick but every now and then we get a few feet and 4wd is a must! After I sell my truck im allotting myself $3000 for a vehicle that has AWD or 4wd. Im hoping that this vehicle is under 150k miles....if its possible? I felt like that price was reasonable for that mileage. Though a truck would be nice and is always considered. I would REALLY like an SUV, perhaps an older Toyota 4 runner, Jeep Cherokee, Chevy Blazer, or Nissan Xterra to name few....and good gas mileage is obviously better. The dependability is always a plus, (referring to the toyota ide rather have a little 4 banger engine than the 6 cylinder; 22R engines are a dime a dozen). Always had Chevy in my blood, and have had great experiences with them. Have also been hearing a lot of good things about the inline 6 cylinder Jeep cherokee's if they are the 4.0 liter or 5.2. Reasons for an SUV?...car audio. I live in northern Cali area (90 miles west of Reno, NV). So anywhere as far south as San Fran, up to Mid Oregon is reasonable enough for me to go and pick up a vehicle as long as it can be registered in Cali. So if you know any in an area close to those please let me know. Does anybody have any suggestions or feel like my price range isnt high enough for a vehicle having under 150k miles? your help is as usual greatly appreciated. revoracing247
i've always wanted to get a second or third gen 4runner and solid axle swap it or buy it with it already swapped. those things are so sweet! plus the whole boot to put audio in! and it'll run forever cause it's a yota. manual second or third gen toyota 4runner. that's my suggestion. revoracing247
yeah that's probably true. but if you know what your looking at when you look at cars then you could probably still get a lot of miles out of a 4runner with a bit of miles already on it. just make sure it hasn't been rolled, cause i've heard the v6's start acting weird once they get lots of oil up in the upper end. though i think you're looking more for a daily then a wheeler lol btw here's my friends runner that he lets me drive all the time. it's sick. on a side note, i have a 96 ranger and honestly if i could i'd love to sell it and buy something else, i just got it for a good price and fixed it up. (needed something to haul my toys around) anyways hopefully someone else will give ya their 2 cents! blownengine
Jeep Cherokees are EVERYWHERE. Not to mention the aftermarket loves them so finding parts will be easy and fairly cheap. One downside is Jeeps tend to hold their value really well. So you will have to shop around. 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT (Yea its got a Hemi)Alpine CDA-105KnuKonceptz 0ga CCA Big 3 with Yellow Top 15" SoundQubed HDC3DC Audio 1.2K (Bass)Pioneer 6x9's (Front)Pioneer 6.5's (Rear)Kicker 3.5's (Dash)Sony amp on the highs. Tarball
Keep in mind a $3k 4wd/awd vehicle is likely going to require some tpye of repair when you buy it and may or may not be as close to death as the truck you have now. Good luck though, sometimes a good deal is out there...somewhere. BobbyG2
LOVED my '98 Mountaineer. 180k miles and the engine still ran like it was brand new. 5.0L V8, AWD. Only complaint was the gas mileage, around 14mpg. But it was a tank, the insurance company shouldn't of totaled it out but you know how insurance companies are... *New vehicle and system coming soon.*
