ChromeJerome
Well, I'm about to start the rebuild on my blazer and have just about everything together, but one thing I REALLY need help with is a box design and an amp rack/mount that will fit in the back of my car. Any and All help is appreciated. Here are the specs: Subs: 2 Skar VVX-12 D4 (http://cart.skaraudio.com/skar-audio-vvx-12-subwoofer/) Sub Amp: Crescendo BC2000D (16"L x 2.75"H x 9.5"W) Mid/High Amps: (2) MB Quart ONX4.125 (20"L x 9"W x 2-1/2"H) EACH Battery for rear: XS D1200 (6-9/16”D x 7-13/16”W x 6-3/4”H) Box Type: Ported, wanting tuned around 28-32, but open to suggestions. Aimed at SPL Chevy Blazer 4D, Base of seat to hatch/tailgate: 36" Top of seat to hatch/tailgate 33" (These two, I'm sure you already know, but this will be right up against the tailgate/back wall, as in less than an inch or inch and half of room between the box and back. Port needs to have room to breathe) Height to top of seat: 16" (I know its low, but gotta keep it here to be able to see out the rear, and for competition reasons) Height to window line: 16.5" Wheel well to wheel well: 37.5" **I know it may make things a little more complicated, but I need all of the amps/battery to also be under the 16" height if possible, and on the side of the box closest to the front of the car, and some of my wires will not reach to the back.** Like I said, ANY help is appreciated, and I will definitely send the person whose design I pick a little something something. Joe X
For the box here is a suggestion, if aimed at loudness you should seek higher tuning: Enclosure Specifications: Fb = 32 Hz Vb = 4 ft^3 External Height = 16 in External Width = 35 in External Depth = 23 in Port Width = 4 1/4 in Cut Sheet List: * All Dimensions in Inches. * Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts. External Enclosure Parts: 2 x Top & Bottom (3 parts) = 35 x 23 Left & Right Sides = 21 1/2 x 13 3/4 2x Front = 15 3/8 x 13 3/4 Back = 35 x 13 3/4 Shared Port Internal Assembly Parts: 2 x Front to Back = 19 3/8 x 13 3/4 2 x Extension = 5 15/16 x 13 3/4 Assembly guide (generic dimensions): This is just to give you an idea on the enclosure, how much space does it take and all that, how you are going to setup your amps cabling and batteries to look the way you want is something you need to sketch yourself and then the above can be customized some more if needed. ChromeJerome
How much of a difference would it be score wise if it was tuned around 35-38? And would it still wreak havoc on the lows? They say money can't buy you happiness...but money buys car audio...and car audio makes me happy. mattc3366
You could always get a design that has an interchangeable port on in. Take the insert out and you have your spl tuning. Put the insert in and have your daily tuning. subwoofers - two eclipse 88120s box - 3.4 cubes tuned to 32 hz amps - aq1200 and pheonix gold zx450 New build : 2 obsidian audio 15s same amp 6.1 cubic foot box tuned to 32 hz in a civic hatch
Joe X
How much of a difference would it be score wise if it was tuned around 35-38? And would it still wreak havoc on the lows? 34-35Hz will get you on loud side and keeping the lows as well.

How much of a difference would it be score wise if it was tuned around 35-38? And would it still wreak havoc on the lows? 34-35Hz will get you on loud side and keeping the lows as well. How much of a difference would tuning at 35 change that first design? They say money can't buy you happiness...but money buys car audio...and car audio makes me happy. Joe X
Actually the box itself changes very little in size, take a look: Enclosure Specifications: Fb = 34.5 Hz Vb = 4 ft^3 External Height = 16 in External Width = 36 in External Depth = 22 in Port Width = 4 3/8 in Cut Sheet List: * All Dimensions in Inches. * Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts. ChromeJerome
Oh dang, yeah that's not really even noticeable. I'm curious though, is it just that one shared port in the middle? Because the area that would be right under the sub is confusing me :/ They say money can't buy you happiness...but money buys car audio...and car audio makes me happy. Joe X
Alright, no, what you see below are side to side 45s, one in each chamber, is just one port in the center of the box.
