Windows XP will work. But I think 7 is the top-dawg at the moment, in my opinion, at least. You would need more than a week to really get the hang of 8. I dont like the learning curve on it. Plus not many games/drivers are fully supporting it yet, although they soon will, of course. But i'd rather choose the tried and true option. It's not much of a learning curve if you actually give it an honest chance but most go in like oh I hate it, it's not 7 this is to new and toss it aside. Once I sat down and really played with it I love it. On my machine and monitor setup at home I can just scroll my mouse to the side and see all of my installed software, games and apps. I get live updates on everything I want and the best part is the start time. Even on my little netbook (i3 4gb ram 250gb hdd) 8 starts way quicker than 7 did. I can't wait to actually try it out on a tablet PC but right now on my regular desktop and my netbook it gets 2 thumbs up. The bugs will be worked out eventually so no issues there.
