S15_Silvia
Could someone offer a quick crash course in the differences between the coax and twisted pair designs? And which applications each is better suited for? Quote 2016 Subaru BRZ | Sony XAV-AX100 | Rockford Fosgate DSM 4080 & DSM 40ix | On 6/6/2012 at 6:32 PM, 'LZTYBRN' said: 3. 8ight
The Twisted Pair reminds me of my RF Riot Series RCA's. Very Nice Cant Wait for that Volt Meter to be released My RF Riot Twisted Cables started at $69.99 and went up past $129.99, maybe more iirc - i know they were not cheap at all. And they were not hand made and individually tested/certified in writing either. Ours have a medium price range. Not dirt ass, radio-shack cheap, but not pricing likeyou would see on a REAL high end set. If you know RCA's, you know they can ask OBSURD amounts of money. I am not making any special claims about "extra SQ" from them, but i will claim a HIGH QUALITY, hand made product you can depend on for years. I just want to say to anyone who is put off about the price is to look into doing quality products yourself. Not only can good ends cost you a buck to 100 bucks EACH end, Quality coax or Twisted is difficult to find. There is an overload of crap wire in the market. I see it all the time in CCTV. just cause it looks the same, is called the same, doesn't mean it will perform the same. Nothing worse then running 1000ft of cheap and good in the same conduit, to see the quality difference be night and day on the screen. Yes, I did say 1000ft Then once you spend all this money for supplies, you have to take the crackhead time to solder them all together. Even if you think you are somewhat good at soldering, you will be challenged in a simple task as this. Hitting all those pins without having too much wire exposed, not getting the wire too hot to melt the inner jacket AND not getting the pin too hot and melting the support takes time, practice, and patience. I make my own rca's and trust me, Steve's prices are way cheaper then what I would charge If you think about it, there is 8 solder joints in an RCA and what you pointed out is another thing, you have to be GOOD at it or they will be garbage within weeks. That solder job has to be on point. Just because it works when you first hook it up doesn't mean you will get years of service out of a mediocer solder job. Especially if you remove them a lot. Also, just to make 3 measley RCA cables, you are looking at now 24 Solder joints. Not to mention set-up time, getting it all stripped, prepped and in a good position to do the job. Ever try to solder with a wire just laying on the table? Its a pain in the ass. We use a jig of course but even that has to be setup. So ya, RCA's are not rocket science but they do take time to build properly and we do use great materials. What more can you ask for You shouldn't even need to explain this. I will always pay more for a quality product and be happy knowing my hard earned money is going to a man good enough to bring a dependable no-nonsense product to the market at a reasonable price. 1 Quote I'm gonna hate
kingsuv
You shouldn't even need to explain this. I will always pay more for a quality product and be happy knowing my hard earned money is going to a man good enough to bring a dependable no-nonsense product to the market at a reasonable price. Sadly, not everyone understands what all goes into production of any product. They are quick to say fuk that, X product is cheaper and just as good. While Steve won't comment on the improved SQ quality, which is understandable as SQ is very subjective, It's not hard to take in the specs of this wire vs X mass produced brand to see the difference will make a difference SQ wise. While you may not hear a tonal difference, it sure is nice to not have to deal with the random crackling sound, or a slightly muted channel because the end has a short. 2 Quote Designing, building, and shipping boxes.
