whats the difference in RMS and dynamic power output/rating???

just wondering whats the difference in RMS and Dynamic power rating??? and which should i be conserned with when buying an amp. ive always thought RMS, so why list dynamic??

example:

RMS: 2000 x 1 @ 1ohm

Dynamic: 4000 x 1 @ 1ohm

Keep in mind, its very possible tha I'm wrong, but what it looks like to me is a new marketing scheme that means the same thing as max rating... Just a smarter way to put it since people are learning not to buy an amp based on the max rating... What amp did u see those ratings on?

The difference is that cheap brands use anything other than RMS wattage and should be avoided.

Also, dynamic - changing, static - stays the same.

So it's just another word for "not constant".

It's a little different than "maximum".

If I remember correctly, DD website uses Dynamic too, I was going to check but when I try to go to the DD site says 404 not found.

Wellington, I didn't know DD and Rockford Fosgate were cheap brands using the word dynamic. I might as well go pawn my Fosgate amps with this logic.

OP, typically from my understanding, dynamic means power for bursts.
