FeelDaBass
Hi, I was just curious how much of a difference it makes with tuning, lets say, 1 htz difference. Such as 32 compared to 33 or 29 compared to 35 or 40 htz. Is it a huge difference? I have really only heard my boxes and my first was tuned to about 40 htz (2 RF P2 12s) and this second one I made is at 38 htz (T0 15" RF "high output"). I haven't had it installed very long but I definitely notice it plays the lows much better and has an insane vibration at 35 htz when compared to the 40 htz. I tend to like a punch to my music with plenty of lows but I like being loud too. Any comments on a favorite tuning or anything? I listen to dubstep and rap mainly with some rock as well. Any info/advice is appreciated! revoracing247
if you listen to dubstep or rap i'd tune lower as long as your sub(s) your using like it so. and as far as tuning. i think it might be a little hard to tell unless compared side by side if it's 1 hertz but you'll deffinately hear a difference with anything more. FeelDaBass
Thanks for the advice. I'm seeing 24 htz in your signature, does that still have a nice punchiness to it for most music? EdgarG0721
No and it's useless for daily music very few song play that low and output will suffer
revoracing247
yes though t-lines do react differently then other boxes. the reason i did 24Hz on my box was because that was the fs of the sub i built it for. though i do have to say with how loud it is in the lows it does seem to lack some in the higher notes (80Hz range or so) i'd do a tuning on a ported enclosure around 33 Hz or so depending on the sub I think you have a bit of truck stuck in your mud bro ~Ford Ranger, ext cabKenwood DDX4701/0ga stinger wiring for big 31/0ga ofc flextech wiring 3 kinetik 800's AQ2200 @1ohm Sundown Audio X15 in a 27Hz tuned ported box LE BUILD LOG!!! alaskanzx5
did you make the rockford suggested high output box? the one that the manual gives you the specs to? if so scrap it and build a new one. those boxes that rockford gives specs to arent bad but are still a prefab style box with small port area. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz. Yeah, for this one I used the "cut list" just to see how it was. But I have the intention to someday soon make a box for 2 15s facing forward and sealing it off, but that requires a little metal cutting on the car.. How much port area is necessary? And what would you tune it to? alaskanzx5
with a slot port you want around 14" of port per cuft of box, just try to keep it between 12"-16 per cuft of box volume. for tuning a higher tuning around 40hz will be louder on a meter but a tuning closer to 33-35 hz will be better for music. the box needs to be right around 2.5-3 cuft per 15, on the smaller side if overpowering and on the bigger side if under powering. the t0 doesn't have as good of a heat sink or whatever you want to call it so don't over power to much, it can handle the same power as the t1 series but not for as long becuase of heat is what ive been told. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz. FeelDaBass
Okay, that helps quite a bit. Thanks. One question though. By saying 14"s per cu ft, that is 14"s squared, correct? If so, my box has a 3" by 16.5" rectangular port bringing it to about 49.5"2. And RFs manual says it is a net volume of 3.25 cu ft. 49.5/3.25= 15.23"2. And also 22 inches long, giving it a tuning of 38 htz. That is the "high output" box anyway. The optimal has a much smaller port size (4" round port and 10"s long).
