need port length/depth

Recommended Posts

What size subs?

Be prepared - in most boxes like you describe, the subs are not going to react the same (one cone will move more than the other one with the same amount of power applied to both). If this is a daily/music box, put the port in the middle.

Current system:

1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s

Previous systems:

2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz.

1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz.

they are 18s sorry thought i said that and right now it is ported in the middle im only running 4 ohm cuz i dont have the charging system to run 1ohm it drained my other optima in no time lol but i put a 3 in x 22in port in center but i know i prolly dont have the length and depth right and the back piece are definintely all wrong, so if people agree that i should keep it in the middle thats fine i jus figured putting it to one side would give me better airflow but i have no problem keeping it the way it is as long as i get right port lengths, the box dimensions will remain unchanged but internally i will do whatevr i need to to get the most out of my setup

That is not enough port area for a pair of N2 18's!

I would want at LEAST 7" wide.

If the port is only 3" wide, you should not even have a L port.

If I was working with those dimensions, I would make the port 7.5" wide and use a port wall that leaves an opening of 3.5" between the end of the port and the back of the box (no L shape).

Leaves you with ~11.75 cuft tuned to 32 Hz.

I was reading your response and noticed I said make the port 7.5" wide - I was thinking about the 3.5" opening when I typed that. Just make the port 7" wide.
