LuckyRussian
Hey i'm a new member and i'm going to start my 1st build very soon =) !! I will be upgrading my entire system and i have a few options in mind (certainly open to suggestions from the"pros") : 1 sa15d2 w/ Hifonics brutus1200.1d or 2 alpine type r 4-ohm 12s with the same amp (i know the rs will be pretty underpowered but i don't wanna invest too much in my car's electrical system- 550amp battery and 80 amp alternator). I was thinking of going with an xs battery to power the system but the model would be determined by the system choice I listen to all kinds of music but mostly rap, hip-hop, liquid dubstep, and even some pop. Since i have a pretty small car (toyota corolla '05), so im looking for like 60% sq and 40% spl if that makes sense. Im thinking of going with the Kenwood Excelon x996 head unit and getting 2 6.5 components, 2 6x9s, and a 4 channel amp later on.Any help will be appreciated and if u agree with the 1 sa15 option, please give me a link for a good box design since ive never built a box before (no sealed suggestions please!!). Hellbilly429
all good choices really, I would say get the sundown, but not quite sure why you are set on 1 15 vs 2 12's? and for $40 more you can get the brz1700.1d http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_23923_Hifonics_BRZ17001D.aspx 2018 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback (build in progress) NVX Sound Deadener (Front Doors) Stinger FAST Rings Stock Electrical SSA Evil 6.5's Front Speakers Stock rear speakers MB Quart ONX4.80 speaker amp Rockford Fosgate T-1500bdcp DC Level 4 12" D1 @ 2-ohm Box In Design Stage Stock RadioMy Build Log
Carbon
Don't worry buddy, no one will give you a seal box design on SMD!
LuckyRussian
Thx for the replies and im choosing between 2 12s or 1 15 cuz i really want to hear the lows, while still having some punchy bass. Also, i realize i can get the 1700 but wouldnt that be too much for 1 sa15 for daily listening??

Kranny
stick with the 1200. you wont really see full power out of it, or the 1700, anyway. you can always go with an audioque hdc3 woofer. they like big boxes though, so i dont know if you'll be able to fit a 15. but you will have to give measurements (and vehicle of course) before we can determine anything. sq/spl fractions are pointless. you cant sit in a car and be like "hmm, this car is 70% spl and 30% sq". it doesn't work like that LOLOL. do the big 3 also. 4 gauge is more than adequate, because your alt is small. big 3 is very important. Hellbilly429
i was saying the 1700 to run 2 12's, but i meant 2 sa-12's vs the 1 sa-15, you said either 1 15 sa or 2 12 r's, why not 2 12 sa's? 2018 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback (build in progress) NVX Sound Deadener (Front Doors) Stinger FAST Rings Stock Electrical SSA Evil 6.5's Front Speakers Stock rear speakers MB Quart ONX4.80 speaker amp Rockford Fosgate T-1500bdcp DC Level 4 12" D1 @ 2-ohm Box In Design Stage Stock RadioMy Build Log
SLAYER1805
You can do a FI SSD 15", they're 1000 RMS which a BRZ1200 would be fine for it. They only need 3-4 cubes ported, 1.5-2 cubes sealed. But as Kranny said do the Big 3 and if you can get an XS power batt go for it, even better
LuckyRussian
I thought about getting 2 sa12s but i watched videos on youtube bout them and they were flexing everything in cars twice as big as mine (not looking to kill my corolla lmao) plus i would need to severely upgrade my electrical system to run them If i get 1 sa15 and a 1200 watt amp, would i need the big 3, battery or both (looking to spend less) Plus if u were wondering i did originaly want to get the aq1200 but after doing some research, i realized that i would much rather get the hifonics and an extra battery (as an example) for the same price since i won't be abusing it (dont need such a high-quality amp)
