jmsonoma03
does it have the ford sync? if so you might need a special harness.
skittlesRgood
sounds like the switched 12v isnt hooked up. should be a red wire, not yellow. yellow is constant 12v. HUs usually show some life when they get power then shut off, like you describe. so that sounds normal. but the unit wont turn on without the switched power. just like it wont power on with the car off. If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood. CleanSierra
It's the 12 volt switched I believe as well, just as I suspected earlier. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
purplesyrup
OK, Im getting ready to tackle this, thanks for the help, The 12V switched, red wire is hooked up in the harness, so the best way to do this is to run a hot wire, and put a switch on it? purplesyrup
I wonder why the red switched wire would not work on the harness, it had been a while since ive done this, but i have never had to worry about skipping some wires on the harness and running them elsewhere, except the remote wire of coarse
cloud77
You don't need a switch to the new 12v constant, It will just allow your radio to turn on while car is off. So make sure you turn it off when you want it off. purplesyrup
Well, some people say its the switched 12v, others say its the constant, I will try both and see if I can figure this out, my car does not have sync as someone stated earlier, Im going to start working on it in a few minutes

kandiman71874
find a battery, twist the red and yellow together on the head unit, hook the wires to the battery correctly including the ground to the headunit and power the damn thing on. Simple test like that will tell you if its a head unit problem or a harness/vehicle conflict.
