DC Power 270a Only Making 170@2000rpm On Escalade

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. I just bought a new DC Power 270a alt, internally regulated. We clamped it and are only getting 170a at 2000+ RPM on a load. The amplifier is drawing the voltage down and cutting off after maybe 20 seconds because it isn't getting enough power. All Shok 0-ga, big 3 done, D3100 battery with RF T2500bdcp amp on two 18s.

Please help, I don't want to call DC and say the alt isn't working right until I am 100% positive that everything has been checked. Is there something with a 2006 Escalade in the electronics that keeps this alt from pushing full amperage?

Thanks.

Quick question, do you have it as a single alt setup or as a dual alt setup?

formerly known as Blue86f150

its a 4th order just because its tuned in the 40z doesnt mean it wont reach down and jiggle your balls at sub 30 hz frequencies.

Regardless if they were dipped platinum and were stuffed in Beyonce's twat.....way too fucking exspensive

It s single alt. the rating at 2000 rpm is alternator rpm, not engine rpm. Should be making 250+a at 2000 engine rpm. Just checked it and took the engine over 4000 rpm and could still only manage 209a clamped.

I'd say it's putting out about what it should. Look at the output current table. It sais 179 amps at 2000 rpm's:https://www.dcpowerinc.com/fit/2006~Cadillac~Escalade-EXT~6.0L-V8/8237-270-xp.html#tab-alternator_performance_sheet

That's at alternator rpm.

Completely different than engine rpm.
