Singer 220A H/O alt

I did the recone, I think it turned out very nicely
this is one beefy bastard

I cleaned up my lights with toothpaste and it made a BIG difference
d53289ec.jpg

Then back to the recone!!! there was white paint on the gluing surface so the dust cap popped off and failed at the paint. to fix it I sanded the gluing surface and used some shoe goop to put it on again. It's looking super sexy now

This is where I am at now, I still need to seal off the trunk but I'll just wait until I am un-butthurt and I have more money to throw around

I also got bored the other day and bought some plastidip to do certain parts of the car. It doesn't look bad, but it isn't good.... if that makes any sense lol

I was able to get a couple vids up showing the excursion and a little flex

Another video

nothing big lately. I get my alt soon. I wrapped the back side of my box today, it turned out great IMO for my first time wrapping

61A384BD-3035-4279-97FA-D84D5104606E-441

Lookie what I got today...

ED36BC6A-176F-4A32-B462-10C6A5DF0941-844
1FEB9552-04C8-4839-9C58-96DEAE4D2BBE-844

He included quite a few "Ginger Alternator" stickers too :peepwall:
51E5D830-2DB7-4507-A6D5-314464C1C34C-844

This big lip on the HO alt is obstructing the alt from going on and in turn causing the pulley to seize up due to pressure on its insides or torsion. So I need to grind it down and try again.
6C87C0F1-5B93-47C8-8E7B-EC2D19EE782C-895

And my sub... My shitty solder job came off so I went to get direct leads done instead of push terminals. Well we tested the impedance of both sides which should have been 1ohm but one side said .2ohms. The coil was a nice honey gold color except for one spot close to the coil to tinsel lead connection where it was black. My guess is that when we did the recone one of the terminals broke so we had to solder it back on. We soldered it or a long time and applied a lot of heat. We think that the heating caused the resin stuff in the coil to become more brittle and yada yada. It's hard to tell what happened because it's only that one spot where it's bad. Gains were set right and I never took it above where gains were set.

And some demos...

Some more progress!!! TRUNK BATTERY!!!
FB9DD5C5-3E28-433D-BCF9-18A754C6940B-735
It's a rats nest. I don't care now. I'll clean it up and make a proper system of keeping the battery in place as well as wire organization :)

Also I got my trophy in the mail :)
0AAE73EF-B3B3-47A0-BEBF-022950E05C81-834

I'm having issues either with my RCA connection at the amp or RCA connections internally in the amp. I'm going to investigate before I invest in a new set of RCAs.

It turns out that the sub reaches it's mechanical limits when playing 45hz test tone for competition so I can't go until clipping stops on the HU :(

In recent updates I switched out the positive 4 ga with 1/0 that I got for $20 and rounded over the port exit to eliminate port noise so nothing really photo worthy

Just bought an older RF amp off of one of the members here, I forget what their screen name is though

54779354-2C11-44F2-B1F2-DA5D5112D933-625

I just took the end caps off lol. they take up too much space under my seat

everything I need to install the new amp

4D69076C-4023-45DC-A3B6-5C5EF005719E-625

removed driver seat and first thing I did was grind down a good ground

9A9F3025-F1B4-4660-A9B8-7DF72F4D2D77-625

everything in and wired up, except for left speakers of course

D2730ED5-76A1-4840-B1FA-B1AA230C412A-625

4FCD86AB-DAB1-4FD5-A3B2-C6CDD6DC4300-625

so far they sound good, I want to wait until I can get an O-scope on the amp so I know where I can turn it up to

D00B8A09-249D-43C1-B738-30A14E97A9BD-625

not pretty but it works

9E41E1CC-F6F1-4C2B-8115-6C5A9617DEAF-625

this was very helpful for cutting the tweeter hole

39AD65EB-9FA4-48FA-A1A1-DE100460D828-625

and some video for you video whores

I still need to upload more, this video was just on stock HU power. I can't wait to hear them scream when the amp is tuned properly. I love how the highs sound already and how they sound in general with live music :)

so spring break was this past week. Instead of going out and raging I decided to go home and work on my car :)

first of all I got the mids/highs amp mounted above the ground with some UHMW plastic strips that I found laying around the house

9676D22D-AFB7-414A-8432-9E00E967E4D7-138

3FCE6D9A-CFF4-4570-A94F-0FD187789BA8-138

I got wires cleaned up too and hidden

31D7B2EC-8617-41F6-ADF5-147BC1FF4540-138

I dreaded doing this, but I got up the courage to get my shit together and work on the beauty panel for the trunk wall

got a paper template made up and with taped sheets of paper

654D1B80-9A5A-40E3-A916-64C19DCA1821-138

after 2 tries I finally got a whole sheet of 1/4" birch ply cut in one piece lol

1EE36C3E-C5CF-437D-972D-8EDB02921B54-138

BINGO!!!

05D8FAB6-881F-4198-972C-E95270E66B43-138

what could this be?
