5 lug bolt pattern 5x115 or 5x114.3?

Recommended Posts

I am getting new 20's for my ride, which is a 1990 Olds Delta 88. It's got a 5x115 bolt pattern. However most of the rims i'm interested in have a 5x114.3 bolt pattern. My question is will this work for me? I've heard mixed reviews on this, and the guy I just talked to assured me, the rims i'm looking at will bolt up just fine, and there will be no issues, but they have a 5x114.3. There is a difference of .0275", so it's not exactly the same size. Just wondering what people's opinions are. Thanks.

Local sale? Craigslist?

Test fit them is you can. Depending on the stud size they might just bolt right up.

They will fit, yes....But they are NOT recommended by manufacturer or any knowledgeable wheel person...Possible issues are damage to studs, damage to your hubs or rotors, and balancing issues resulting from the wheel not properly centering on the hub....

I have had 5 studs snap off and lost a front wheel on the freeway at 70mph, due to this same type of issue....I purchased a car with wheels already on it that were not the proper bolt pattern...

You can get adapters. The really important thing you didnt mention was the HUB size.
Thats what actually supports the weight of the car. And thats what you should be looking at also.
The lug studs only hold the wheel to the hub.

You can use plastic (metal adapters are better) for different wheel to hub sizes but its not a good idea either.
Different wheel to car hub sizes will have alot of vibration at higher speeds especially

I have the opposite where I have 114.3 with a set of rims that are 115mm. I'm up in the air right now. I wouldn't just try to bolt them on. Even though the lugs may tighten down, especially with tapered lugs there will always be that slight tension on the center hub of the wheels which looks to me like one of the weakest points on the wheel. Especially with the vibrations and rough roads, at least here in NY.

Also on mine, the center on the new wheels is about 3mm larger, which concerns me as stated above. I will have to do more research on adapters contacting as many suppliers as I can, state my needs and concerns and see what kind of responses I get.

Best of luck and thanks to those who shared.
