Ever since my wife traded her 04 Denali in for a 2012 Camry, I have wanted another SUV. I was thinking about another Denali, but started looking at the Escalades around the same generation (03-06) under $10k. Of course, I go to Craigslist! Normally, I always look for vehicles with pics. I wasn't getting any good results. Most of what I saw was people had listings for vehicles they already sold.

I found one listed for $7,500 with no pics and hardly any info. It's fully loaded with 210,000 miles, but they claim it's in excellent condition with a clean title. http://littlerock.craigslist.org/cto/3561381886.html

I emailed them and they sent me pics.

Nada has $6,875 and Edmunds killed it on the miles and gave it $6,087. It's about an hour and a half away. I don't want to make the drive and they won't work on the price. Also, what if I drive it and it's as good or even worse than they say. Do I need to try to negotiate a price first? What steps would you take?

I can't even imagine the gas mileage, let alone with a system.

It won't be a daily driver. I have an 07 Maxima that would take that on.

I just seen the miles it had. Hmm, I'd wait a while longer and see if any other ones pop up. 200k is a lot, especially for an 03.

Not that they don't have solid engines in them....but at that high of mileage if the engine doesn't start giving out and giving you issues, the drivetrain, transmission, suspension, etc. will. That is a LOT of wear and tear for a vehicle, especially if not taken the time to maintain it like it should be. Just my $.02 though.

Firm believer in letting my cars do my talking!

You can't rush quality, it doesn't happen overnight. Quality takes time and dedication, but the end results more than pay for it.

Dude said his wife drives it everyday. I bet the gas is killing them and they want to ditch it. She got it 2 years ago. I haven't asked about any engine or transmissions repairs. As far as he knows, everything works.. I don't mind doing suspension work. I planned to do some anyway.
