Zippitty
I plan on buying 4 SA-8v2s 4 ohm to go behind the seat of my single cab F250, I was wondering Which amp I should buy to give them a good 800 - 1k watts ea and how should I wire them. I don't have much experience with systems so any extra input would be appreciated.
SnowDrifter
What sort of electrical do you have? And why 4 ohm subs vs 2 ohm subs? Zippitty
What sort of electrical do you have? And why 4 ohm subs vs 2 ohm subs? Uhhhh well I was thinking of picking up an extra battery, and I heard that they run better at 4 ohms with four of them? I'm not sure I'm honestly clueless
SnowDrifter
What sort of electrical do you have? And why 4 ohm subs vs 2 ohm subs? Uhhhh well I was thinking of picking up an extra battery, and I heard that they run better at 4 ohms with four of them? I'm not sure I'm honestly clueless Not sure where you heard it from, but I wouldn't listen to anything whoever told you that has to say. You match the subs impedance with your amp. If you are getting dual 4 ohm subs, you will need 2 smaller amps to run them. But if you were to get dual 2 ohm subs, you can save yourself some trouble and only run a single amp. As for electrical: you should plan on at least doing some basic upgrades like the big 3 and swapping out your stock battery with a high quality AGM battery like XS, Shuriken, Kinetik, and the like. You would want to put the biggest battery you can fit too. Once you've done that, then you can look into adding a rear battery. But I don't think you should need to In regards to an amplifier: What is your budget? Is this amp only or does it include things like wiring and a head unit? SnowDrifter
I will also say this: Many people make the mistake of buying nice subs, but skimping out on anything else. If you are starting from scratch and need help budgeting, plan on spending around 3-4x the cost of the subs for things like wire, head unit, mids and highs, box, 4 channel, sub amp, batteries, and so forth. stroupe79
3k watt amp should run those subs just fine...but like mentioned you want to beef up your electrical Quote http://www.stevemead...cherokee-build/ 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Alpine CDE-hd148bt Alpine PKG-RSE2 PRV Audio (4) 6MB200 front/rear doors PRV Audio (4) TW350Ti dash/rear doors Kicker KX350.4 Obsidian Audio (1) 18 D4 v2 revamp (2) Stereo Integrity HT 18d2DC Audio 1.2k5.25ft^3 tuned @34hz revamp Infinite Baffle Cpillar AudioTechnix 60mil deadenerKnuKonceptz & SkyHigh wire (complete setup)
Zippitty
Alright, I'd like to keep the amp somewhere under 1000, I'm not sure if the subs really need 800 watts to be as loud as I want It was just an estimate. I plan on having a nice system but I'm going to pick away at it buying different pieces at different times and then installing once I have everything I need. I was thinking a Pioneer double din for the head unit, I still have no idea what I want for mids and highs though

stroupe79
Just a suggestion, $1000-1200 is enough to get you a nice 3k amp for subs and a 4channel for mids/highs...I would look at SoundQubed or Crescendo for amps and mids/highs http://www.soundqubed.com/ http://www.crescendoaudio.com/ these are both very budget friendly lines of quality products Edited March 8, 2013 by stroupe79 Quote http://www.stevemead...cherokee-build/ 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Alpine CDE-hd148bt Alpine PKG-RSE2 PRV Audio (4) 6MB200 front/rear doors PRV Audio (4) TW350Ti dash/rear doors Kicker KX350.4 Obsidian Audio (1) 18 D4 v2 revamp (2) Stereo Integrity HT 18d2DC Audio 1.2k5.25ft^3 tuned @34hz revamp Infinite Baffle Cpillar AudioTechnix 60mil deadenerKnuKonceptz & SkyHigh wire (complete setup)
