rattling sound and noise from my level 5 12 inch

Recommended Posts

i noticed today that my sub making a rattling sound and hit noise when i crack the volume up.

i didn't touched the gain for a while and the noises come when i am on high volume.

it wast like this before i must say.

so i took the sub from the box to see i i can hear from where this noise is coming.

didn't hear nothing special i noticed that one of the leads is kinda touching the cone and there is

leads marks on the cone.

when i play the sub all volume up on free air i don't hear hitting sound only low rattling sound

when i put it back i can hear something hitting or hitting sound and rattling on a bit low volume.

Ive also checked the cooling hole on the bottom if there is a FOD in it didn't find nothing and the sub looks aligned.

what can it be ?

is it possible the spider lost there stiffness and i am hitting now the XMAS ?

Or is it the box fault ? too much port area ? or the port area is too little ?

this is a video you can hear what i am talking about: the buzzing sound isn't from a bad recording that what i hear when the subs operates

http://youtu.be/IcCz63rBEpI

also i noticed that the cone and spider connecting place on one side of the sub is dry or failed apart could it be the reason ?

here is a picture of the dry side:

and here the other side for compression:

i installed the sub inverted and played again on the area that i hear the noise the loudest i can see a straight Square shaped of gray

paint on the voice coil i couldn't take a picture off it because i can see it only when i play a track.

it is where one of the leads going to the coil not the same lead as before its different lead

is it out of align ?

is it hard to fix that kind of problem ?

I was going to suggest inverting the driver, and watching..... Nice job on the trouble shoot.

I just had the same problem Friday! Had a sound just like that in my sub. Took my sub out and took a look at and didn't see a problem, but I was thinking to my self man this sub has a lot of dust on it, so I blew through the cooling holes and a chip of MDF came out! After that I hooked it back up and it was fine. Don't know if that's your problem but u could try that
